Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
I can’t believe the negativity towards signing Hart.
He’s not a shite keeper just desperately out of form and unsettled from loans. Imagine how he will be after training with our keepers and Mercer, look what he’s done with Heaton and Pope, signed from relegated Charlton and Bristol City. The way we defend will also cut some errors from Hart because he won’t often get in the situation to make the ones he has been.
In terms of a ‘name’ signing Joe Hart is a massive name, England keeper, numerous awards whilst at City.
4m is a absolute bargain. Top signing.

It may indicate that Heaton is not close to full fitness?

Or off to Merseyside
Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
If our manager and goal keeping coach can turn a somewhat inexperienced keeper into an England international what could they do with an experienced England international who has the lot just needs a bit of confidence and a decent defence. The more I think about it the more I like it. UTC

Bloody hell IanMcL surely he is better than playing second fiddle to England's number one Pickford and won't play third fiddle at Pool, so why should he go to Tranmere Rovers?

Exactly.Paul Waine wrote:The way I see this deal:
1) Reported in Times that it is 2 year deal with an option on a 3rd year. It doesn't say whether the option is the club's or Hart's.
2) Joe Hart will receive the same wage this season as he would have got if he stayed at City: Burnley pay part and City make up the rest. So, pay cut only comes in the 2nd year of contract.
3) Scenario 1: sort out Joe Hart, Tom fit, Nick fit - we have one more "international keeper" competing for No1 spot than any club needs. (Two, of course, is a luxury - but, I think we all like luxury). So, one of them can be sold....
4) Scenario 2: Joe Hart's form doesn't return to his best. So, he stays for 2 years - and Burnley don't exercise option for a 3rd year..... unless, of course, in the meantime Tom or Nick has already moved on..... or, worse, Tom or Nick don't make full recovery from their injuries and aren't back to their best.
My view, very smart piece of business by Burnley - and all credit to Sean Dyche if his reputation is attracting players to join Burnley. The club has put £4 million plus wages into a player who was once very good - at a time when we need another keeper (even if only for a few weeks until Tom is fully fit). We have the chance to improve/restore Joe Hart. We have the opportunity for a spare keeper who can be sold for a lot more than we've invested in Tom, Nick and Joe Hart combined. Really, what's not to like?

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
Think this could be a good move, for both him and the club. The sentimental side wants Heaton to be our No1 but I feel Heart has the same ability with more experience. With Pope out it would at least provide close competition for that No1 shirt. Heaton deserves a chance to gain that position when he is fit but as I said in another post it's football and loyalty stands for nothing.

New will only leave if we sign Dawson or similar, first.
Gibson might already put him out of the team.
The other two look likely.

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
One advantage that seems to be overlooked is that Hart has not got a crock shoulder. What is the guarantee that Tom and Nick will return to their previous form. A shoulder injury that has required surgery is serious but even more so for a keeper.

Absolutely. And for either to return to absolute top form could take a long time.Longsider wrote:One advantage that seems to be overlooked is that Hart has not got a crock shoulder. Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
Apologies in advance - haven't read the whole thread so may well be repeating what others have said.
Basically international class 'keeper with 2/3 poor seasons behind him peppered with high-profile mistakes. According to my WHU colleague at work, toxic club, riddled with back-stabbing etc, Hart made the scapegoat - far from the only poor performer.
There's absolutely for certain a decent player in there who just needs the right club/coaching/environment to bring out the best in him - 31 is no age for a 'keeper. We have a proven track record in that department - only need look as far as Heaton and Pope for improvement or alternatively Keane and Gray who have not lived up to expectations where they have not been properly mentored and looked after.
If he succeeds then at some point we're going to make a financial killing on one of Pope or Heaton. If he fails to live up to expectations Lindegaard is very competent and the addition of Hart provides decent cover until Heaton/Pope return to full fitness - given today's market good and sensible business.
What's more Europa League campaign - how many in the squad have experience of club competition at that level?

Did he have a medical after all that?
If so, did he pass?
Does anyone actually know for certain?

I think not, fidel. The fact that the news broke on Friday i.e. just before the weekend presumably explains why there's no news. We'll know soon enough.
