Congratulations Accrington Stanley

Post by Paul Waine » Sat Aug 04, 2018 3:17 pm

Kicked off today in their highest place ever - in all their incarnations - in the football league pyramid through all their history.

Proud to be born in Accrington.

Of course, UTC.

They’ll do very well to stay up this season. I hope that they manage it.

Now bottom of league... One shot on target, header 90min. Exposed on counter at back.. Could be a long season

They know it's going to be tough but I have a feeling after a few games they will acclimatise and end up in the lower quarters but stay up. Good luck to them. UTC

Poor crowd. 2,201. And that includes 418 Gills fans.

For their opening game in the highest division they've been in, very poor.

Blackburn away, Burnley not playing, red hot summers day, and a very low crowd.
Wait until it's A cold wet December at home to Burton...

Won't survive long term in this league I don't think, which is a shame.

Don't know much about Accrington Stanley re;fans but I would have thought the club would have liked a figure nearer to 3,000 rather than 2,000. Perhaps they were away on that holiday that everyone local seems to be on.

Huge step-up for a club of Stanley's stature, may take time to adjust but I'd give a manager of Coleman's stature the benefit of the doubt and hope that he can work out a survival strategy - maybe Sean can help him out with some loanees - good environment for some of our developing players to mature in.

Remember when we used to get walloped of Gillingham? Yeah we didn't turn out too bad.
