The Aberdeen love in....
With good reason too.
Just been and collected the package a few of the lads who we met up there sent down for my two young nephews.
Top lads. Who ran / worked at the queen vic pub on rosemount. I am sure any Burnley fans up there in the future will be welcome to a few pints.
Anyway, needless to say their hospitality was great and the trip will live in the boys memory forever. They made a real effort with them the two days last week and two days this. And now posted this down.
The kids will hope every summer holiday and football season is like this.

Re: The Aberdeen love in....
That is brilliant, Chelsea are my second club because of something similar in the 50's when as a kid after the Burnley Chelsea FA Cup game a Chelsea coach pulled up outside the Queen Vic. We young lads went on board and some of the younger supporters tried to convince us it was the Team coach but a guy took my address and sent me a number of programmes from Chelsea. Memorabilia like home and away kits didn't exist in those days but the kindness lasts forever.
My Queen Vic was the Victoria Hospital of course

Re: The Aberdeen love in....
Following on from Conor Mitchell to St Johnstone perhaps the best way to cement the relationship with Aberdeen would be to look at potential loan moves for some of our aspiring younger players.
Everything about them suggests well-run club - possibly an ideal environment for some of BFC's emerging talent.

Lovely.
If the lads put them Aberdeen strips on and try to recreate Lewis Ferguson's overhead kick, then their Uncle had better save it.

Believe it or not, it's as Scottish and Aberdeen as it comes. Ask for Duncan Strachan. Tall Jim Carrey lookalikerayzer wrote:Hi CC. What are the names of the guys who work inthe Queen Vic.? Re: The Aberdeen love in....
I still don't get the love in?
I get that there was friendly banter at both games and it was all nice and made to feel welcome, but does it all not seem a bit patronising? Like tapping a little lad on the head as a well done for taking part.
I've been down to Arsenal games for example, where we've been tubbed and never got this kind of attention from them, despite the obvious gulf in class.
Same when we play, and on the rare occasion, beat lower league opposition - I would never look out for their results or have them as my second team.
Probably just me...

Probably more about mutual respect, that doesn't happen much anymore especially in the Premier league.
When we take points off teams you would of thought we had stolen them.

Corky and Vokes send their love to Aberdeen.

https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/ ... nsea-hull/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Good to see some of our players giving credit where it is due. Hopefully, we can maintain the positive ties that have been forged between our two clubs.
Another Europa match up with them, or a friendly exchange, would be very welcome next season.

I still don't get people who think that showing respect to your opponent means that your team doesn't play as hard against them. In rugby, we always shook our opponents' hands after a game. That doesn't mean that we were playing two hand touch.

This was a stratospheric one over your head, if you could read into it i'm actually defending you. Asking for your local kin to back you as they jump on the mildest form of insult usually and 'send them back' would usually rile them into a flustered onslaught of debate.Millertime v1.7 wrote:You're having a mare, bud. Re: The Aberdeen love in....
Just seen this on facebook:
A message sent to Burnley Council from an Aberdeen fan.
"Burnley FC's first European cup match in half a century saw the town turn red (and tartan) as Aberdeen fans descended on the town.
One Scottish fan emailed us and we thought it was worth publishing:
As an Aberdonian I would like to let you know how much I enjoyed my first ever visit to Burnley.
As someone who has followed the Dons home and away since the seventies I can honestly say we received the warmest reception I have ever experienced in my life on Thursday. Absolutely everyone we met both at Turf Moor and in the town centre was very friendly and a credit to Lancashire.
From the barstaff and doormen in The Swan to the chef in The Boot who laid on a special dish of the day of haggis, neeps & tatties to make us feel welcome. In both pubs the local fans were very friendly and great company. This great atmosphere continued at the ground where everyone from stewards to catering staff gave us cheerful, good natured service.
At the end of the day football is not about the few on the pitch but the many who travel to follow their team. It's the fans who make the game and this is where Burnley excelled: so much better than either Glasgow or Edinburgh.
Aberdeen are statistically unlikely to meet Burnley in a competitive match again in the near future, and my holiday time is normally spent elsewhere but from now on I will always look out for the Burnley result and remember the great people of Lancashire for the rest of my life."

The scarves will be a great memento for the young kids of their european adventure.
From just two matches so far theyve made memories for life. And I'm sure after Turkey this week they will only have added even more great experiences. And will of course have 2 more half n halves to add.
