Re: Matej Vydra
Can't say I know much about Vydra - he's seemed to spend a lot of time in the Championship when we've been in the Premier League, and vice versa. The quote above definitely suggests he's tailor made for the vacancy Dyche appears to feel he has, and i see a few references online to him being quick, as well as quite strongly built, which I must confess I hadn't appreciated.
My biggest doubt about him is that for someone aged only just 26, he's had a hell of a lot of clubs. I know a lot of them have been season loans, but he's been all over the place, and he's been a bit hit and miss. He's had 2 good seasons at Watford, and one at Derby, but the other 3-4 years he's been a regular he's not really pulled up any trees. That suggests either something about his character, or that he's a player who needs a particular set up in which to thrive (which could be ours). And despite a couple of half-opportunities in Serie A and the Premier League, he's only really had success in the Championship.
This could turn out to be a cracking signing - but he's definitely less of a guaranteed quantity than Rodriguez. That could be a good thing - perhaps there's more potential for him to be absolutely brilliant than there is with Rodriguez, whose limitations as well as strengths are well known - but there's a bit more risk about it too.

I would have gone for either players or Jarrod Bowen.

Why we not looking for players that will actually improve the squad ?

Re: Matej Vydra
Scored some good goals on the highlights video, but for a no10 far too many passes went astray for my liking

So he can turn an average Championship player, how many times do you need to see that.
BTW, it's not necessarily a criticism of the player, just the video.

Re: Matej Vydra
The video is pump. But I think he has something different to what we have and runs at players and has that bit of guile. (I have seen him a few times)boatshed bill wrote:No.

Yes he gives it away a bit but he tries things.
Good player who offers something I hope we have bid because for me a number 10 or a deep laying playing playmaker is what we need so badly.(Defour injured)
Yes he needs to be a grafter too but how many runs did Barnes make against Aberdeen without getting the ball not saying this is the lad but we need a bit guile and they tend to cost that bit more and do not always fit into our universal framework.

Scored a few with each foot. Always a plus for someone looking to tuck a chance away... I’d be happy for him to play instead of Hendrick as a no10

Re: Matej Vydra
To play for Dyche he will have to graft it’s simple really isn’t it? The players who haven’t put a shift in have all left the club.... Vydra will offer us something different, and personally if his attitude is on par with the rest of the squad then I think Dyche will get the best out of him and hopefully he can continue his good form from last season

If you look this video and said he was called Matej Vydra from Valencia then people's opinions may change - no doubt this lad has a lot of ability and can find the net, could be a steal at that money (might not be too ).watsonsclarets wrote:https://youtu.be/iNwmIK9OcqE

I was more comparing the feel and timing of the deal and not particularly the their playing styles/records.agreenwood wrote:He did finish top scorer in the Championship last year to be fair. Nahki Wells never came close to that.
Re: Matej Vydra
Heard we want Vydra and Jay, same source that said Clucas was off. Must mean Wells/Walters leaving ?

Re: Matej Vydra
If you can finish top scorer in the championship then he will be good for 10 goals in the prem , even I can't trap a bag of cement managed that !
Re: Matej Vydra
I said last week I'd be excited about Vydra, did extremely well last year, good turn of pace and an eye for a goal, would be very good behind Wood and would offer us more than the static leggy Rodriguez.

I believe Dyche managed him before at Watford? any ideas how he performed under Dyche? I know he did well for Watford once Dyche had left but I'm not sure how effective he was for him.

Re: Matej Vydra
I might be wrong but didn’t Vydra join after Dyche had left? He was one of the loans the Pozzo’s (who sacked Dyche) brought in with Zola I think.

Simple maths
Vydra > Hendrick
Vydra > Hendrick

This would be a great signing and an excellent fit behind Wood. Hope it comes off.

Re: Matej Vydra
They have only played one game and like stated earlier they seem to have a system which he doesnt fit into. Plus they know he is going or want him going to raise funds for Lampard so will not risk him anyway.Vegas Claret wrote:"Vydra had a groin operation during pre-season and has yet to feature for the Rams."
Re: Matej Vydra
Surely the best thing about this is that it represents a step up from taking Leeds' best players to taking the players that they want to employ but can't actually afford to.

Came in initially on loan from Udinese so I would think it was after the Pozzo takeover which therefore was after Dyche.KRBFC wrote:I believe Dyche managed him before at Watford? any ideas how he performed under Dyche? As well as scoring 21 or 22 goals in 40 appearances last season for Derby he also had 4 assists

I made it to around the 3 minute mark! I think it`s the music in those videos...should have played that sh*t at Guantanamo Bay!!! Vydra looks to me (from the 180 seconds I`ve seen of him) to be a centrally-based Gudmundsson type with some speed, strength and clearly an eye for goal. It is worth a punt. You have my permission Burnley FC!boatshed bill wrote:I got bored with that.

Looking at that video, he should have had at least double the assists. Some woeful finishing from some of the ones he set up.mkmel wrote:As well as scoring 21 or 22 goals in 40 appearances last season for Derby he also had 4 assists

Hopefully, if he signs, he can provydra few more goals and assists from the `No.10` position.

Even allowing for the traditional You Tube production enhancements and selective high points, I'd sign him. He has pace, excellent positional and spacial awareness, good trickery and most importantly, an end product.

Re: Matej Vydra
Agreed
Re: Matej Vydra
Not a signing I’d like to see us make. 26, a poor previous record in the premier league, a number 10 who has been suggested doesn’t like to chase around and do the donkey work. I can see his impact (if he has one) being in home games when he have a little more ball or from the bench. But unlike others the loss of Hendrick or a player of his type (athletic, flexibile positionally & hardworking) in our midfield away from home I believe will leave us to being more open and an increased chance of return to the awful away record of 2 years ago.
