Europa League Play Off Draw - Monday
UEFA have pre-selected the draw groupings and published them on their website .
Not the friendliest of groupings but at least it allows for a little bit of research / prep should we get through the next round .

I’ve long given up trying to understand this. Good to see UEFA using a picture of the Clarets on the article on their website.

Can't even begin to work it out
Re: Europa League Play Off Draw - Monday
So basically we are unseeded, so would play one of the 5 seeds from this pot. So at a guess 1 of zenit st petersberg, feyernood, olympiakos, braga or genk i think. Or the teams they are playing of course.

At this moment in time; we are good enough to win this round and the next round.
And after that? I'd need some common sense on how to put a team across as they are all bloody clueless.

Re: Europa League Play Off Draw - Monday
I get it, and the draw will work the same as the other 2 have. Where have you seen that we are unseeded though?
Surely the seeded/unseeded ‘sides’ of the pot (5) will be decided once the results of each of the current fixtures are known?

Re: Europa League Play Off Draw - Monday
Ill have a do.
There are 8 (16 teams) games in the champions path. The winners progress into the Playoff
There are 6 (12 teams) games in the Champions League Qualifier 3rd round. The LOSERS are into the Playoff
There are 26 (52 teams) games in the Main Path. The winners go through into the Playoff
Edit
No actually I dont have a ******* scooby do what the helll is going on here. We dont play Barnet I know that much

Re: Europa League Play Off Draw - Monday
Do we draw another team from our “pot” or one of the other pots?
Re: Europa League Play Off Draw - Monday
What i said before plus
They’ll sort out in what group each team is seeded
Each group will be numbered
Each team in each group numbered
They’ll draw 2 group numbers
They’ll draw team numbers from that group
Example
Group Ball 2 drawn against Group Ball 6
Team Ball 3 vs Team Ball 5
Team Ball 2 vs Team Ball 1
Team Ball 6 vs Team Ball 4
So that will make 6 ties
Group Ball 1 drawn against Group Ball 4
Team Ball 1 vs Team Ball 3
Etc etc

Draw someone from the same pot. Seedings already been announced. Top 5 pairings in each pot are seeded.

Re: Europa League Play Off Draw - Monday
Andy, where are the seedings confirmed? I don’t not believe you, but a link would be helpful.
Leipzig would be very unlucky to be an unseeded team, having made the quarter finals last year, and with Germany’s coefficient.
Looking in pot 4, if the rule is the top half pairings are the seeds, then Rangers will be a seed, yet Atalanta will not be? Surely Italy’s coefficient will be far higher than Scotland’s, and Atlanta got to the group stage last year at least (maybe further?) Also, Rangers would be a seed, but Hibs wouldn’t? On recent European history, on top of the coefficients, not sure how that would work?

Similarly in Pot 3, M. Tel-Aviv would be a seed, and Bordeaux would not?

Re: Europa League Play Off Draw - Monday
I imagine the draw will be like the others have been; in two parts. A draw for pots 1-4 and then a seperate one for pot 5 (ours).
If pair 1 is drawn against pair 5, then that will be the pairings across all of pots 1-4, etc.
Then the pot 5 draw, which has 10 pairings goes to a straight draw. Seeds in one pot, non-seeds in the other. Take one from each and first pulled is at home first.

Same link as for the other rounds. It's League route, 4th qualifying round.burnleytom wrote:Andy, where are the seedings confirmed. I don’t not believe you, but a link would be helpful.

Italy's coefficient is less than England's, so it's no surprise that Atalanta's seeding is less than ours. If you win the competition and win every group game, you only get about 15 points - you need at least two good years (out of the last five) to make the switch from national seeding coefficient to the club's own coefficient. You get either/or, not the sum of both.
The fourth round seedings can't depend on third round results because they're making the 4th round draw on Monday, before the third round is played.
Rangers aren't seeded. Their opponents Maribor are seeded. The seeding depends on the coefficient of the seeded club, not their unseeded opponents - if Rangers win, they become de facto seeds replacing Maribor for one round only. The winners of Maribor v Rangers will be seeded, because Maribor have a high coefficient; the winners of Hibs v Molde will not, because Hibs and Molde both have low coefficients.

Re: Europa League Play Off Draw - Monday
Thanks DSR, that link was very helpful, as was the explanation over Maribor. Hadn’t seen it before today, as always thought we’d be seeded. Absolutely amazing when clubs like Maribor of Slovenia are higher seeds than Atlanta, Leipzig or even, dare I say it, Premier League Burnley. They were dross against Liverpool last year!!!

The only thing that's absolutely clear from all these pots/seedings/draws and the like, is that UEFA employed Duckworth and Lewis arrange it.

Re: Europa League Play Off Draw - Monday
Ties involving: Sevilla, FC Zenit, FC Basel, Besiktas, Olympiakos, FC Copenhagen, Braga, FCSB, Gent, Genk, Maribor, Maccani Tel Aviv, Feyenoord are seeded for the 4th Qualifying Round. That is the order of their coefficients. Feyenoord have a coefficient of 21.500 whilst ours is only 15.921 (wholly due to our national coefficient so you need to remember that when you wish for an English club to lose in Europe!) which is 17th best leaving us unseeded for this round.
The draw is simple - the 2 pots of 8 will be split into the top 4 balls (seeds) and the bottom 4 which will then be drawn, for both groups, as they were in the previous rounds. Then our group of 10 will be split in the 5 seeded balls and the 5 non-seeded which will then be drawn in pairs (1 seed, 1 non-seed) and placed into another bowl before being drawn again to determine who has home advantage in the 1st leg.

Here's a list of potential opponents in the play-off round draw, ranked in UEFA coefficient order (seeded teams in bold). In theory, the higher the coefficient, the better the team.
It's about time we had a kind draw. In the second qualifying round Aberdeen had the 2nd highest coefficient out of the 5 potential opponents. In the third round, Istanbul had the highest coefficient in our group.

Zenith would be well tough and expensive. Apparently St Petersburg is a fantastic city though.
If we get Feyenoord there will be trouble. The CFS seats will need to be well bolted down.

It's incredible that for all the vast number of teams in the Europa league you can only be drawn against very few of them each round!

i'd take any of them as long as we're away second as i can't get the time off for the first leg.
i've encountered feyenoord fans before, they have some rum characters following them. the tub looks a cool ground.
braga's stadium is ace, built in a quarry.
st petersburg would be a cool trip. greece would be a hot trip. genk, no idea.

A lot of Dutch hooligans are banned from attending games in the Netherlands so they take advantage of away games to vent their spleen.
I saw Ajax play Auxerre eight years ago. Their "fans" were kept in after the match; Every seat in their section ended up on the pitch.
