Re: Lowerhouse v Burnley Worsley Cup Final
As a Burnley CC supporter, certainly no complaints from me, best side on the day won without a doubt.
Lowerhouse also need commending on how well they organised the entire day, from the corporate tents, to refreshment kiosks, additional toilet facilities and abundant staff working the bars. Compare that to Burnley CC's organisation of the visit by Aberdeen fans last Thursday, where massive queues were formed for beer, refreshments and toilets,( resulting in the back of the pavilion being used as a public urinal).
Once again well done Lowerhouse.

Re: Lowerhouse v Burnley Worsley Cup Final
Just back from the game. Wow..what a game of cricket! A real advertisement for local league cricket. Ebbed and flowed and only until about 5 overs from the end when Lowerhouse let loose it was most definitely in the balance.
Lowerhouse had Burnley in a pickle with only just being in 3 figures and 8 down..but their tail wagged as Lowerhouse let them off. Losing Ben Heap first ball was a big blow and Lowerhouse looked all at sea being 5 down for just over 40 but the sub pro Cosgrove and Charlie Cottam (MOM) steadied the ship and brought it back into the balance. Was heading for a nervy finish once the pro was out until Blez and Joe Hawke started letting loose.
Superb organisation and a cracking atmosphere too. Glorious weather. Perfect day.
One team in Burnley..there's only one team in Burnley! Championes!

Re: Lowerhouse v Burnley Worsley Cup Final
Followed it on the Lowerhouse Twitter account when I got home from the football and did think it was going Burnley's way when Lowerhouse were 47/5. I'm very much Burnley when it comes to Lancs League cricket but there is absolutely no doubt that Lowerhouse know how to put on a big game. I saw that for myself at a t20 final down there two or three years ago that I went to. Well done to them and a big well done to both teams for giving the spectators what looks to have been a cracking match. And congratulations Lowerhouse on your victory.BigRedrose wrote:As a Burnley CC supporter, certainly no complaints from me, best side on the day won without a doubt.

Can I thank everybody on behalf of Lowerhouse Cricket Club for today. We do our best to make the occasion special for the spectators and the players. We get the odd thing wrong but we are a group of trusty volunteers.
The players put on a game worthy of a final and the supporters of both sides rose to the occasion. The game was played hard the supporters followed their chosen team with pride passion and no shortage of noise but most importantly of all behaved impeccably.
From all at LHCC, it was our pleasure.

I was down there for 1.00 pm and stayed ‘til the finish. What a good game of cricket, and what an excellent day out.Lowerhouse CC did a cracking job organising the thing and putting it on.. I saw plenty of old pals there, a few beers, and the Club must have made some decent funds for future development. Good effort.
Re: Lowerhouse v Burnley Worsley Cup Final
Quick well done to Padiham, who beat Settle in the Ramsbottom Cup Final at Read, cracking day with more than 4,000 Padiham supporters making the short trip over.

Re: Lowerhouse v Burnley Worsley Cup Final
The group who don't get the odd thing wrong hasn't been created yet RLC. All you can ever do is your best and the reports from yesterday suggest that if you did get anything wrong then it was something minor. Sometimes, when you are organising an event, you see the little things that go wrong yet no one else does. So that often leaves you over critical of your efforts.RocketLawnChair wrote:Can I thank everybody on behalf of Lowerhouse Cricket Club for today. From just reading this thread it is very clear that it was a really good match, one that could have gone either way, and played in a good spirit with a big crowd well organised by the hosts. You can't ask for more than that.

It was an absolutely cracking day, fun for all the family.
A few friends attended for the first time up at Lowerhouse, and they both commented what a great time they had, and how lucky we are to have such a well run club.
They'll certainly be back
Thanks for all involved for a wonderful day!
( I even met a few posters from this board too, which was nice )

Surprised that the crowd at Read ( over 4000 from Padiham alone) was bigger than the estimated ( 3500/4000 ) crowd at LowerhouseDiesel wrote:Quick well done to Padiham, who beat Settle in the Ramsbottom Cup Final at Read, cracking day with more than 4,000 Padiham supporters making the short trip over.

Re: Lowerhouse v Burnley Worsley Cup Final
There was a very healthy following of around 400 Padiham supporters with the Turf and Worsley cup on.
To say Padiham were underdogs having been thrashed by 270 runs on the Saturday by Settle it was a good turnout.
A very vocal support who definitely played their part in the win.

I presume all the sponsored tents etc would of been separate to the gate.MACCA wrote:"Lowerhouse are pleased to announce the total for yesterdays gate, including online sales was a staggering, and record breaking £6469. (£4 adult, £2 concession)"

The gate receipt suggests around 2k on plus the tents/sponsors.

It was a joke, as the tickets were £2, £4 & £300 per tent, not sure how those figures can ever reach £6469..
Some one has mis counted somewhere...

Re: Lowerhouse v Burnley Worsley Cup Final
Due to the 3 way split of the gate receipts MACCA they are exactly that money received on the gate/online tickets. All the hospitality and VIP packages available which were completely sold out have an initial outlay to the club, (the tent and refreshments, guaranteed seating and complimentary programmes etc. So if we added that onto gate reciepts we would have to split that with two other parties who’d contributed nothing towards and likely end up with quite a loss on that.MACCA wrote:It was a joke, as the tickets were £2, £4 & £300 per tent, not sure how those figures can ever reach £6469..

The VIP which is a league rule was the biggest take up of complimentary tickets in league history and coupled with special guests and friends and family of players and officials etc that take up was about 300 people.
We estimate roughly above 3000 attested on Sunday.

And don't forget the cost of the numerous portaloos!!
Re: Lowerhouse v Burnley Worsley Cup Final
Think.a few have the wrong end of the stick here. I'm not having a go, I was merely stating you cannot have the gate receipts ending in a 9 ( £6469 ) if all the tickets were an even number like £2, £4 and £300.RocketLawnChair wrote:Due to the 3 way split of the gate receipts MACCA they are exactly that money received on the gate/online tickets. So made a joke about a recount being needed as someone as mis counted by £1...
