Lowerhouse v Burnley Worsley Cup Final
The big day in local cricket is finally here and a chance to claim the local bragging rights. Lowerhouse will start as clear favourites against Burnley at what is sure to be a huge attendance at the West End. Gate could possibly be higher than the Clarets v Espanyol friendly?
Either way, looking forward to the game. Come on Burnley, stuff 'em!

Burnley hopefully back to full strength after a disappointing defeat to Ramsbottom with the returning Holt, Brown, Pickup and Hayman.

Re: Lowerhouse v Burnley Worsley Cup Final
I’ll be down there for the first over.
Is there plenty of seating or will it be standing for most people?
Bus route for Lowerhouse from the bus station ?

Will definitely be standing room only unless you get there by 11.30am (12.30 start remember).

Glad you think Cole Hayman will be a source of easy runs for you. Might just come back to bite you on the arse that one.Lord Rothbury wrote:Could you bowl Hayman from the off we need a good start. If he plays will this be the first game of the season for Brown.

And no, not Brown's first game.

Hasnt been clear Favourites in a Lowerhouse Burnley fixture since the seventies. And today is no different. Both sides are packed with quality cricketers and match winners. Promises to be a cracker.
Re: Lowerhouse v Burnley Worsley Cup Final
Heading down early to claim my usual spot,as it will be heaving. Someone mentioned it could be the biggest ever crowd up there, and the last one was 3k+.
The weather looks good all day, so should be a cracker.
Up the House!

Have a great day everyone that's going and hopefully it all runs smoothly for the hosts. It's a massive event for volunteers to put on, so don't be afraid to buy them a pint after.
I'm off to watch Padiham in their cup final at Read in a equally big game for us. Padiham are up against it though with Settle being a very good side and walloping us yesterday.
It's a funny old game though cricket, especially in cup finals.

Re: Lowerhouse v Burnley Worsley Cup Final
Had it not clashed with the football I'd have been there - just hope it is a really good day for both clubs, that there's a big crowd and that the best team win which for me of course will be Burnley.
My first Worsley Cup Final was in 1964 when Rishton beat Burnley at Turf Moor. The attendance that day was over 10,000. You just can't imagine that at a Lancs League ground now. It should be a big, big crowd today though, Lowerhouse have worked extremely hard from the minute they knew they were hosting the game.
Really hope everyone enjoys the day.

Burnley need to bat their 50 overs to have any chance at all. Clarets losing to Espanyol as well.

Never forget the old rule though, you don't know what a good score is until both teams have batted !!
118/8 off 41 Overs...
118/8 off 41 Overs...
Re: Lowerhouse v Burnley Worsley Cup Final
I guess it gives some of our second and third string players a run out.
Re: Lowerhouse v Burnley Worsley Cup Final
150 might give Burnley something to bowl at but that doesnt sound likely at all

Re: Lowerhouse v Burnley Worsley Cup Final
Burnley finish on 169 for 9. House surely favourites from here.
Re: Lowerhouse v Burnley Worsley Cup Final
Thats a good effort from 86/6. Burnley need 2 or 3 early wickets but House are big favs.
Re: Lowerhouse v Burnley Worsley Cup Final
Late rally, make a it a contest.
Very poor from Burnley early doors, cheap wickets.
All important first 10-15 overs, where the game will be decided IMO
