Re: ARTICLE: Burnley’s transfer window opens with Gibson signing
Does it really matter when a signing is announced?
Re: ARTICLE: Burnley’s transfer window opens with Gibson signing
Top signing. Having watched the Clarets Player interview, he clearly has the ideal attitude to fit into the squad.

Re: ARTICLE: Burnley’s transfer window opens with Gibson signing
Great quotes from him.
Seems grounded and genuine.
It’s probably a signing that is the very optimum of what we can afford in terms of making it happen without hindering the structure of the club.
And at 25, plenty room for development. Well done Burnley, I was getting a tad concerned that a signing like this might be beyond us. Just hope we can bring in a bit of pace at the other end of the pitch now. And a young Robbie Blake type

A very good signing by the club. Welcome to Burnley Ben.

"Great quotes from him."
Absolutely, Cubanclaret. Unusually so.
“The measure of a fantastic team is not to do something once, but to repeat that time and time again. I know that’s what Sir Alex Ferguson said about Manchester United. Sean Dyche and the team and everyone here did such a fantastic job last year in finishing seventh and qualifying for the Europa League. Let’s hope this is a real, real good chapter in Burnley’s history and this is just the start of things to come."

Re: ARTICLE: Burnley’s transfer window opens with Gibson signing
Have to say I'm really pleased with this signing. I was amazed when we were linked with him last Thursday afternoon and didn't think we had a chance.
He has spoken so well in the interview and Sean Dyche has said that Middlesbrough were very good throughout the whole process.

Ben Gibson as well as being a top class defender gives us balance with our other centre backs as we now have two right sided and two left sided
And he seems a positive and a genuinely nice young man and an eloquent speaker to boot

You have to wonder if the family connection with the chairman has made this deal a damn sight easier than most...

I told you that Sir Dyche was about to draw to a royal flush. His father must have total faith in us in order to let him go.

Re: ARTICLE: Burnley’s transfer window opens with Gibson signing
Such a good signing that I thought wouldn't happen, you'd expect him to come straight into the side! If he is to progress. Would have thought Dawson would want to be first choice too. Then the news comes in that Mee might sign after all.....
Re: ARTICLE: Burnley’s transfer window opens with Gibson signing
I was disappointed to miss out on Dawson, but Sean pulling Gibson out of the hat is even better! n @ £15m I really do think we have done the mighty Boro over big time with this deal..

We'll see - it seems to me a fair price to pay for a relatively young lad with bags of Championship expereience and Prem potential.

Very good signing. Always looked a solid defender when I’ve seen him play.
Re: ARTICLE: Burnley’s transfer window opens with Gibson signing
Very good signing at what seems a reasonable price now for a player of his age & experience. Well happy with this one.

Very happy with this signing. A 4th Centre back was well overdue, and we've got a good one in my opinion.

Re: ARTICLE: Burnley’s transfer window opens with Gibson signing
So who is going to play? What a dream problem for Dyche now. Gibson hasn't com here to sit on the bench. At the very least it keeps players on their toes, especially with the Mee news coming through. Strange though as we are now being strongly linked with another centre back from Le Havre as well.
If he comes in the people who wanted strength in depth at cb will be more than happy I would think. All we need now is a good quality striker with pace. Wood, Barnes and Vokes (if he stays) are okay and won't let us down but we do need that bit extra up front I feel.

Excellent signing.
Will be intriguing to see if he and Mee play together at all, because theyre both very nuch natural left sided players.

Shows the progress we are making as a club when such a highly rated player joins, decent price as well in this market,i'm sure young Ben will improve under Sean's tutoring.

I would thnk SD would have been one of the main reasons when you look at Keane and Tarks getting their call ups.tiger76 wrote:Shows the progress we are making as a club when such a highly rated player joins, decent price as well in this market,i'm sure young Ben will improve under Sean's tutoring.
