Re: ARTICLE: Clarets take Hart
A good signing and hopefully one that will turn into an awesome signing if he can get his best form and confidence back.
BTW: Tony, can you please perma-ban anyone mentioning Head & Shoulders. It was ok the first half dozen times, but now it's becoming a bit dull.

Except Tom Heaton hasn't played a competitive first team game for 11 months, and is currently virtually un-sellable.ClaretAndJew wrote:You've got Pope injured for months which means, he's challenging Heaton for the number one spot or Heaton is off.
For the foreseeable future it's Lindegaard and Hart vying for the No. 1 spot, and we just have to keep our fingers crosssed that both Pope and Heaton will make a full recovery in due course.
I'm sure that Dyche and the board know the situation and know exactly what they are doing, and should be commended on bringing in the best available.
Well done!. UTC

Personally I'd feel safer with Joe Corrigan.

Remember, back in the day, when our second choice ‘Keeper was Luigi Cennamo, Frank Petter Kval, or,(gulp!) Wayne Russell?

Welcome to Burnley.
Re: ARTICLE: Clarets take Hart
There is more to this than head and shoulders shampoo. We have two keepers injured and both have had surgery for dislocated shoulders which are bad injuries to any footballer but more so for keepers. Shoulders first-only time will tell if the repairs can keep the shoulder in place in the future. Now the head- and only time will tell if both Heaton and Pope's heads have forgotten these injuries when they are leaping for a save etc.If they haven't then they will be more cautious and likely poorer keepers in the future. Their resale value will have dropped with these injuries for now and maybe for ever.

Welcome joe.
SD and BM to help make Hart an England international again? Only a fool would bet against that.
No doubt there will be a couple of whingers, but they’d soon whinge if Heaton gets hurt in his first competitive game back and we had no cover...
Good move this I think.

Well done Burnley, welcome Joe. A great signing again.
Gareth Southgate will be able to do all his shopping in one Saturday afternoon down at the Turf now.

Fantastic. His honours. Number of caps and premier league appearances and his confidence speak far higher volumes than a few pundits and armchairs picking apart the odd mistake.claretblue wrote:a tribute to Joe Hart:

Giardiola blew his confidence to pieces. Dyche will pick it back up.
We would only usually sign a 75 cap England international when they are about 41. Not 31.
I feel the best is yet to come.

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets take Hart
Great signing. If he can focus on his game and is left to it I think this could be very important to us with the injuries and a true contender for Heaton whilst Pope is out.
Re: ARTICLE: Clarets take Hart
We could sell our 2 best goalkeepers and still have an England international as our No.1 haha
I've also no idea who the best of the 3 is.

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets take Hart
Sorry, put this on old thread....didn’t spot this one.
For the first time in my lifetime Burnley can probably claim to have one of the best players in the world in their position.
Let us remember, he is in his prime at 31, he has over 50 England caps, we traditionally have superb keepers compared to other countries, and he has won the PL golden glove 4 times.
He is bang out of form for at least 2 years, but that will be in his mind, and if Dyche and Mercer can remove that, he could be the player he was.

Hope we see him reach a peak.
My Hart will remain in my mouth.
Not a patch on Heaton and Pope.
Fingers crossed.

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets take Hart
This is a very cunning plan. It's all to do with Brexit.
The idea is that we sign Butland and Pickford too, in this window or the next. Then we have all 5 England goalkeepers. Then in March we leave the EU, and the FA impose a limit of 2 foreign players per club. All of a sudden, everyone wants an English goalkeeper, there are 6 clubs with bottomless pockets fighting for 5 England goalkeepers, and we have them all. Watch the money roll in!

"I heard that was the vibe and I've come here first day, and you can just see it. It just stinks of it. Everyone wants to play for each other, everyone wants to win and everyone wants to do their best."
What a wonderful quote fro Joe Hart.

We have all seen these players many times.Spijed wrote:Would you really say that had Heaton and Pope never played for Burnley?
Pope has the ability and size to be the best of the three.
Heaton improves like wine.
Hart has become brittle and needs rebuilding.
Yes.

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets take Hart
At the moment we can say that Hart is better than Pope. Re Tom, we just don't know.
Also Mercer has turned two Championship keepers into England Internationals so I am surprised anyone would doubt his ability to do the same with Hart and is possibly the main reason the lad has come to Burnley.

Pleased with this signing. TBH, JH has had a tough time of it recently. I don't doubt he will get back to his best. I really wish him all the very best at BFC.
