Euro squad
Apparently on Friday we registered this round players. And we put Brady, Defour and Heaton.
Not saying it means anything. But must be promising on their fitness at least?

Re: Euro squad
Well they had 2 weeks at that point to get them fit for the 2nd leg and we don't have the biggest squad in the world so probably no harm in putting them in on the off chance they are fit enough for the bench I guess?

Re: Euro squad
it states:
'...Squad list consists of players involved from group stage to final only...'
so does that exclude next 2 rounds?
confused...again!

What about Hart and Gibson?
Re: Euro squad
Can you change it with new signings? Aberdeen managed to play two that they signed the day before the game.

yep, just read this as well.Granny WeatherWax wrote:I'm pretty sure you can make 2 changes.
can swap up to 2 players as long as the home grown quota is met. hart and gibson would be fine.
unlikely either would play on thursday though.

Re: Euro squad
Interesting that we've included Defour. He wasn't in the squad for the Aberdeen games so must be getting closer to fitness.

Re: Euro squad
I don't quite get this - there's only 21 names on list A, the matchday squad, and we can add 2 new signings; but McNeil is on list B which as I understand means he can't play this week?ClaretTony wrote:Heaton's not in - this is the current updated list

Re: Euro squad
No Aiden O'Neill - has he gone back to Aus already?
Re: Euro squad
I think you're right. Good. These rules and regulations are fabulously complicated - I hope UEFA have an expert at head office ready to answer the club's questions!quoonbeatz wrote:pretty sure players on either list can play.
And I think that in practice our list A is restricted to 21, because all our "locally trained" players (ie. brought up at the club) are eligible for list B anyway. So the 21 names currently on list A are everyone who isn't positively out, and if we bring in (say) Gibson and Hart, two players will have to drop out.

Re: Euro squad
When do the squad fly out there?
Re: Euro squad
List A without asterisks, List B with asterisks. They're all written down together, but notionally they're two lists.ClaretTony wrote:Where are there two lists?

Not two lists, the asterisk denotes and under-21 player.dsr wrote:List A without asterisks, List B with asterisks. They're all written down together, but notionally they're two lists.

Re: Euro squad
That's right, more or less, but with a subtlety. List A consists of maximum 25 players, of which max 17 are from anywhere in the world, at least 4 are England-produced, and at least 4 are Burnley-produced. List B consists of players who are Burnley-produced and are under 21.ClaretTony wrote:Not two lists, the asterisk denotes and under-21 player.
List B can be as long as we want it to be, restricted only by the number of Burnley-produced under 21s on our books. List A is restricted to max 25, of which we have 21 at present, none of them Burnley-produced; if we want to add any more to list A, they either need to be Burnley-produced (but they're already on list B so there's no need) or else we need to take another player off List A.
