Agreed, and if Wood or Jay(if he signs) get injured which are strong possibilities , then we are down to Barnes and Vydra( Who is a number 10, not a 9) plus we didn’t score too many goals last season so it all makes perfect sense to me.

Wood,Barnes,Vokes, Rodriguez. What a time to be a Burnley fan. With Vydra(possibly) Bolasie ( possibly) Lennon, Brady, JBG as options behind wow...bit of a transition from seeing Di Branchio saving the day wheneve called upon or watching Alan Moore run away from the ball I do say

If we sign Vydra I would say that he will play in the number 10 role leaving us with Wood Barnes Vokes and Rodriguez if we sign him as our strikers

Bearing in mind that JayRod could play in one or two other positions as well as a striker

Keep them all I say

Not bothered about 'too many' strikers either. Remember when we had too many keepers, then we ended up with an ex-PNE reserves keeper between the sticks for a European match.

Seems like a good deal. Although Wells offered something different (pace) than our other 3 strikers, he just wasn't getting time. You can't prove much when you are put on in the 85th minute.

So the swap seems good.. but not sure where this puts Vydra in the pecking order.....

Last year: Barnes 36 appearances (21 starts, 15 subs)
Vokes 30 appearances ( 7 starts 23 subs)
Chris Wood (24 appearances, 20 starts , 4 subs)
Nahki wells (9 appearances , all subs)

If we start 2 up front, I would go with Wood and Barnes, with Vokes coming in at 70 or so minutes if we feel we need to be even more direct.
Does Vydra start? If so, that moves Vokes down to 4th in the pecking order and I can't see him wanting to stay and not get any playing time.
Wood missed a decent # of games due to injury but don't see how you can keep 4 strikers happy....

Makes some sense, this. It would leave us with 3 strikers capable of playing the lone front man role, all of whom offer something different, and then Vydra who can play in behind as a fourth option and an alternative to a 3rd central midfielder. There's a nice balance to that roster.

The way we're set up also means that we're better off with a physical focal point to our attack, with the pace and dynamism joining in from a bit deeper.

If as is reported we're also after Rodriguez, presumably that means that there could be a further departure up front, as we'd clearly not be signing Rodriguez as the sole answer as second striker.

4-2-3-1 with Vydra replacing Hendrick as the number 10. Makes complete sense.

Dyche wants two players for every position, if we sign all these we might just be able to cover the Europa league, domestic cups and not drop off the pace with 5 games to go in the league.

Well, well, well! Who'd a thowt it? I don't think I can quite believe all this but it just goes to show that when Dyche says things are going on we must surely now believe him. So Gibson in, Hart in, Vydra seemingly on his way in on the most unlikely deal we could ever have imagined, highest bidders for Bolasie apparently and J-Rod asking to be allowed to come back.

I don't know about anyone else but as of right now I'm in a very good mood.

Quote from the sky sports website below states well going on loan

Burnley are in talks to sign Matej Vydra permanently from Derby County, with Nahki Wells moving in the other direction on loan, according to Sky sources.
Both players are understood to be ready to take medicals at their respective new clubs on Tuesday

I can't many if any wanting Vokes to go but merely facing the reality that he might.

We know Vokes is desired by Boro, the £10m touted for him might mean Dyches gets all his targets which If they total Hart, Gibbson, JayRod, Bolasie & Vydra could cost nearly £60million in transfer costs before wages.

We have a long way to catch up with Brighton this transfer window

Today they made their 23rd and 24th signings of the window with Dreyer and an Ecuadorian called Billy Arce

Is this really true? Shocking! Must be some kind of record! Surely as good an example of going for quantity as you'll ever see (although a number of those signings must be youth players - cannot imagine they have just bought a new first team squad...).

Rather be us than them, even if we don't get the fee deals currently on over the line...

The sticky is a bit misleading as the two they've signed today are only 20 and one of those is going straight out on loan. At least two of their other signings will be for their development squad.

I laugh at all these so called big clubs who just can't fu##ing stand the fact that little old Burnley are where we are and doing what we do. This is s quote from some dipstick on that forum. .
