It would be great if a jimmy mac tribute could be brought to athens in the form of a banner or flag.

Quiet day round the pool today with kids. Haven't found any tourist areas in Glyfada yet. Just local or holidaying Greeks.
Ended up in the McDonald's as that's all the kids would eat as they couldn't read the Greek menu's. I have to say though as someone who can't stand them the Greek Big Mac which is half kebab half burger was top notch. Being able to eat your meal with a beer is a bonus as well.

It's roasting here though.

5 of us from Manchester to Corfu tomorrow at 5.25, Corfu to Athens 9.05am Thursday Morning. 2 of us flying from Athens to Stansted on Friday at 3.00pm to get ready for the Fulham game. Other 3 flying back to Manchester via Edinburgh on Friday. looking forward to another adventure after Istanbul!

Looks like there's a few of you in Corfu Wednesday night.

We land at Corfu 11.00pm. Going for few beers then back to airport for a kip and flight to Athens at 9.05am.

Anyone know any decent bars in Corfu town?

Yeah thats the one Ralph, I thought they might be a few clarets on that. We are taking a leisurely cruise ourselves to Santorini on the Friday and flying back from there.

4 on the Manchester - Thessaloniki first thing tomorrow then on to Athens first thing Thursday.
Same Corfu - Aberdeen - Manchester route back, didn't think anyone else would be so stupid.

Metro is ten euros, easy to use, half hour to that area, just having a beer there now

Thanks, yes that's my plan now. Apparently it's possible to get cheaper multi day tickets so will give that a bash as we are there a few days.

Enjoying a beer or two in Omonoia square. Had an enormous pork steak for 10€. 31 degrees in the day. All week....travel light.

*If it helps anyone arriving late, not wanting to use metro / city shuttle, I booked a taxi through booking.com from Airport to hotel, it's pre paid no additional naughties allowed for €35. Staying close to ticket collection point just for info if it help.It's about half hour drive.

Cheers for tip just booked both ways total £67 but return pick up 2AM so happy with hassle free door to door service

FAO anyone who is flying in from Corfu with Sky express, after trying to check in online and finding no option on the website is it only possible to actually do it at the airport before the flight? Saw words to that effect online but wanted to make sure.

We tried to check in online too but you can't. I googled it and the only way is at the sky express desk at the airport. I'm just hoping there is no charge for doing so.

Bloody hell, hats off to you, that square is the one the guide books say to avoid like a plague after dark!

I am having a lovely beer just off Syntagma and am about to swing back to Monastiraki. Had no problems on the metro - mind you I bumped into Rowls' dad so we probably intimidated the pickpockets between us!

So far the city is fantastic - Clarets will love it.
