Just get yourself to the hotel where the tickets are being dished out, pretty sure you'll get one.

Ha! Well I survived the first evening. Ate in the square a d had a huge pork steak for 10€, so we'll filled. The beer down one the side streets was 2.60€ for a 500m Myrhos lager. All good. Not the best views, but no one bothered us. Some girls around. Might be locals chatting and blending, might be looking for business. Again, not bothering anyone. Hotel had a nice room with air con and modern wet room etc. Bit yuk outside but I don't sleep outside!

Up the Clarets.

Got to say I'm now extremely excited! I'm on the 14.55 from Manchester to Frankfurt tomorrow. A couple of hours there then on to Athens to arrive at just after midnight! Got a hotel booked about 10 mins away from the ticket collection place then going to meet the other Clarets in and around the area we hop on the bus!

The least said about our return journey, the better! Fly from Athens at 17.50 Friday evening and "call in" at Zurich ........ until 7.05 Saturday morning! No accommodation booked there so a few beers and sleep at the airport will have to be the overnight plan. Back to Manchester for just after 8am (UK time).

Got a decent price for the 2 nights in Athens plus the flights and I wasn't missing this for anything. Going with my two lads so it really will be a memory maker of a few days.

I still can't believe I'm going to Greece to watch my beloved Burnley.

Stay safe and enjoy everyone and, no doubt, bump in to a few of you over the next few days.

How’s everyone getting from Athens airport to the centre? flying out at 5pm today. Also we fly back home at 7.30am via Corfu so there won’t be public transport running at approx 5am will there.

Hoping someone sees this who’s already in Athens or someone more organised than me

apparently, there are 24 hour bus services, you'll have time tomorrow to find out nearest one to your hotel.
Otherwise, there is the metro that is cheap and quick but again apparently, a bit dodgy with pickpockets so put everything in bags and put your rucksack on your chest

I’ve just used the metro to get to the centre, quite busy, takes 45 mins to get from airport to monastiraki station. Station for the ticket collection and the meeting point in on the same line. €22 for a 3 day tourist card that gives you access all areas including buses and trains (I think)
Pretty much like the London tube to use.

The ticket office lady told me my 3 day pass would last Tuesday to Friday inclusive (I cannot work that out so there is a chance mine will stop working).

On a different note the club have replied to someone on Twitter saying coaches are not compulsory but fans are strongly advised to avoid the metro and that coaches are more convenient.

P.s. The trouble is the pick up point is a long way away from any metro station (I walked past it today) and could be a long, hot walk from people’s hotels which personally today I have found knackering in mid afternoon, whereas the Metro to the ground is just yards from my hotel. I am tempted to assume the “strong advice” is local police preference rather than a genuine safety risk, but who knows? I know local derbies can get troublesome but unsure about European games here. So I’m still 70/30 towards the Metro unless I hear different.

P.p.s.The craft beer drinkers will definitely like Beertime just north of Monastiriki. I tried it out earlier. Decent food, superb beer. Similarly, near Syntagma I can recommend Athena’s Cook. For a bottle shop there is a place called Beer St just south west of Syntagma. Lager drinkers I won’t waste my typing on - there are hundreds of options and if drinking around Proskopon Square (where the Magemenos Avros restaurant is) there are also all day bars on the street nearby called Archelaou.

good stuff Crosspool. I asked on facebook if it the coach service was possible using it only one way, i.e. the return after the game. The twitter reply above was the same. So, without them saying yes or No I take from the reply that it is possible to use only for the return after the game (in my case it's perfect as I have an apartment 2 mins away from the drop off point) seeing as it is not compulsory to use. I, like you, would prefer to go to the stadium independently towards teatime, get some food in Piraeus and a beer or two and see if some locals are knocking about for a pre-match chat and soak up the atmosphere.
