Dean Marney replacement
Heard there's a player called Jeff Hendrick that's recently been released from his number 10 role. Certainly capable back-up for Defour alongside a more conservative Cork/Westwood

Re: Dean Marney replacement
Not sure he's been entirely released from that position - he'll still be needed in games that we want to play more conservatively, keeping things tighter and in particular when we want someone to do a bit of the running for Defour.
So unless McNeill (or O'Neill) is seen as being a genuine first team contender this season, I'd still prefer it if we found a bit more cover in midfield. Apart from Marney, we've also lost Arfield from last season who could play all across the midfield in a 4, and played effectively for us in this so-called "10" role, so we're actually two players down on last season in that department.

He got some stick last year in that role, but he's a good 'un is Hendrick.
We'll probably sell him tomorrow.

Splitting hairs but I see Westwood as more like the backup for Defour and Hendricks more like Cork. Either way adding strength to the number 10 position has a knock on effect of adding strength to the middle l of the park

Still think we’ll get a squad player in to play wing or midfield to replace arfield. Great transfer window so far and I think we’ll add to that.

We'll be playing a little different this year I imagine. You don't sign Vydra and Gibson to bench them, they are starting quality. It means a change of system I imagine.

Re: Dean Marney replacement
Re Scott Arfield he couldnt play cm too dithery in possession and weak in the tackle.
Wide left ok and scored some vital goals but now hes left had achieved almost diva status.Sorry he was not good enough in our team high up the Premier league.
Playing in the lower league may suit but as we saw the other night v Dons ,the Scots have their own unique set of rules re tackling and this may give Scottie a problem. The slower pace and more time will help.

Re: Dean Marney replacement
Does this mean that the goal he scored at Deadwood doesn't count now?
Re: Dean Marney replacement
Can we still sign free agents after the window has closed? Would be a decent little fallback option (not Yaya exactly but i'm sure there's a couple others who would do a job for us)DCWat wrote:Hart’s on the blower to Yaya
