Watford try to sign Craig Dawson
They offered:
£700,00 loan fee for 2018/19
then permanent with payments of £2.5 million per year for next four years.
That would have totalled £10.7 million over a five year period.
West Brom have turned it down.

Another side we will be finishing above. Think they will majorly struggle this year.
See though they are in talks with James Ward Prowse regards a 10m pound move but even with him cannot for the life of me see where they are going to get any goals from

And our own supporters criticise the initial bids we put in!!
If he's downed tools are not going to play his value to West Brom is diminishing by the day. Going to be a long season again for the Baggies. Should have taken our ealier offer.

Is it greedy of me to think we should still be looking at him for the right price?
Re: Watford try to sign Craig Dawson
That's laughable. Really laughable. Could be good for us though. Might be worth offering WBA £10m plus Kevin Long, see if they bite!!ClaretTony wrote:They offered:

Well if he really wanted to he’d be a Burnley player by now.

To me as well it seems a few clubs in the Premiership are really starting to worry about FFP. A lot have lots of squad players they cant shift and are struggling to justify one time payments for players hence structuring deals as such. This is where we are ahead of the game and have a manageable squad sizeClaretTony wrote:They offered:

That’s one disaffected key player for the Baggies. Potentially two if Jay Rod doesn’t get his move North.

But he's worth 25 million , isn't he.ClaretTony wrote:They offered:

Seriously, I would have liked Dawson. I don't know what we offered that they turned down, unless there was only ever the joint bid for him and Jay Rod, but he has to be worth more than that.
Re: Watford try to sign Craig Dawson
Can't believe West Brom have the cheek to demand such high figures for Craig bloody Dawson. He's a carthorse. Gibson is 10x the player and will be for the next 7-8 years.
Glad he's unsettled now though, serves them both right.

Re: Watford try to sign Craig Dawson
I don't think we need him now. 4 central defenders with players such as Lowton who can fill in if it ever got that bad injury wise. I don't expect Long will feature much, so I doubt someone like Dawson would want to come in and risk hardly playing.TheFamilyCat wrote:Is it greedy of me to think we should still be looking at him for the right price?
Re: Watford try to sign Craig Dawson
Why would you offer so much less than h already been turned down?!
2nd english player Watford have been linked with today. Have they just realised they won't have 8 home grown players to fill their squad?

They must've sent that as a dare??
Re: Watford try to sign Craig Dawson
Paying up front or paying in instalments makes no difference to FFP. It will make no difference to profit, just cashflow.Cleveleys_claret wrote:To me as well it seems a few clubs in the Premiership are really starting to worry about FFP. Not sure I'd want to see that!!
Cork's played there before on an emergency basis I'm sure.

Re: Watford try to sign Craig Dawson
We are possibly going to play 352. With that all of our full backs would suitable to play in a back 3 in an emergency provided it is only 1 fb at a time. Just like walker for england and aspilaquita for chelsea.
Jack cork would be surperb as a rh cb in a back 3, if he wasn't so needed in cm.

Re: Watford try to sign Craig Dawson
£10 million for Ward-Prowse? I'd like some of that please. Can play comfortably across midfield and one of the best dead ball specialists in the Premier LeagueCleveleys_claret wrote:Another side we will be finishing above. Think they will majorly struggle this year.

Charlie can do centre back as well, cant he?
Think we're well covered at the back now.
