love football and Burnley, but no more of this nonsense please.
I love my football, but certain things become tedious with each passing season.
I dont want to listen to anymore robbie savage or ian wright or EVER listen to talk sport.
I dont need insider knowledge from danny murphy or any of those channel hopping whores.
Dont want to be minute applauding things that mean nothing to me, not interested in Jack wilshire, arsenal, harry ****** kane, or couldnt care less about betting companies or odds for everything . women commentators can forget any gains they feel they have made.
what irritates you about the game we watch and listen too ?

It’s nothing new but football tedium for me is listening to city, United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea ‘fans’ who have never been to see their team play, were born 200 miles away and conveniently started ‘supporting’ their team around the time they got good or got money, telling me that my team is ****, my town is **** and why on earth do I support the team where I was born, my dad was born and supported for 60 years and my grandad was born and supported for 75.

I wish they'd stop interviewing players and managers immediately after televised games. It really is pointless.

Re: love football and Burnley, but no more of this nonsense please.
Forgetting all the talk of Stockholm Syndrome and all that rubbish I'll address the actual question. The things that annoy me about football:
1. Money and the obsession with it, even from fans.
2. Cheating legitimised by using the term simulation.
3. Pundits and fans alike saying 'there was contact so he had a right to go down' (no he didn't if he could have stayed on his feet).
4. The obsession with the PL and calling it the 'greatest league in the world' (it's the richest but not necessarily the best).
5. So-called fans of 'big' clubs putting down clubs like Burnley and suggesting they have no place in the PL.
6. Managers (unfortunately including our own) fielding weakened sides in cup competitions, completely disregarding the fact that people pay hard earned money to watch a game of football and don't want to watch reserves.
7. Managers and players (and fans) saying 'we did enough to win the game' after losing or drawing, the fact is no they didn't.
Phew, after that little lot why the hell do I still watch the game?
Because I love it I suppose.

I concur. Ruined the game, with the new skill being able to exert maximum distance from your opponent, ad your bodies meet, so it looks like he had knifed you or cut off your leg a moment earlier, before giving you an almighty push.Rumbletonk wrote:Anyone who says "There was contact so it's definately a penalty.

All the above and in addition I hate it at corners when defenders basically put their arms around attacking football player, cheating and diving, and where you have a ball running towards the goal line the defender can basically obstruct a forward trying to get to the ball

I am really fed up with players massing around the ref trying to convince him of a decision. I thought this was meant to be outlawed. More bookings given out quickly for this would help.

Managers/Players covering their mouths when talking
Eg, Dyche does this alot on the bench. “Discreetly” discussing tactics. So nobody knows. But then happily play with the tactics he’s discreetly discussed in front of thousands of fans at the ground and many thousands watching on tv.

Yep. The obsession from fans about the money annoys me. From a clubs point of view I understand. But when fans think about being in the PL for money rather than seeing smoe of the best players/teams in the world is rather sad.houseboy wrote:Forgetting all the talk of Stockholm Syndrome and all that rubbish I'll address the actual question. Re: love football and Burnley, but no more of this nonsense please.
I do find it odd but it's probably an age thing that many fans (probably under 40 or so) can't seem to remember when football was a sport and blokes with a bit of money would run a club without regard for whether it actually made any because of the love of it. Most board members would be local men (and only rarely women) who loved the game and the club. What we have now in the PL, mainly but not exclusively, is a bunch of people who have decided that a football club can be very lucrative if they can maintain PL status and have a big enough fan base. We seem to have lost sight of the romance factor and everything is based around money. Even on here, and I'm not really being critical just a bit sad, we get people all the time saying we must maintain PL status at all costs, even to the point of some suggesting they would rather we weren't in Europe.Dyched wrote:Yep. I love the fact that we are in Europe and even though it's a long shot I'd rather win the thing and get relegated because it's a bloody trophy, and given that we aren't going to win the PL we might as well go for glory. I love being in the PL, don't get me wrong, but if the price of winning a trophy, even the FA or League cup, was relegation I'd take that in a heartbeat because if we aren't in the game to actually win things then why do we bother. I have said so many times that I don't pay my hard earned to watch the club's bank balance grow, I watch it because I love the game and my club and I want to see us successful. 7th in the PL was brilliant last season and long may it continue but it doesn't get you any silverware and a few years of higher mid-table finishes at the expense of really trying in 'winnable' cups I think, certainly from me, would become boring and tedious.

Re: love football and Burnley, but no more of this nonsense please.
Really tedious is the following.
Sky's obsession with the "top 6" clubs.
Too many foreign coaches and managers in England.
Too many foreign players at clubs.
The big money clubs buying up loads of players and loaning them out so that other clubs can't buy them, knowing they will never play for their parent club.
Clubs buying up schoolkids for ridiculous amounts.
Players feigning injury to get free kickc and penalties.
Players who cheat by claiming contact when none was ever made.
Ar**hol* Whinger
Moanrinio the man with the sparkling personality
Biased decisions for the top 6 clubs.
Seemingly us always being a couple of players short every season, we take risks and luckily get away with it but this won't always be the case.
Managers who say "there were loads of positives in our performance" when in fact it was dire.
The media's obsession with Gascoigne, Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard, and Rooney.
All the grabbing and wrestling of players in the box.
Inconsistent referees
Managers who say "we should have won it" even though their team were comprehensively outplayed

Things I hate about football:-
1) Pundits and commentators who would have made different decisions on the power of hindsight.
2) Contact = a foul
3) glory fans
4) the price of twixes
5) trolls on this site

So to sum it up, then. Football is sh1te, and we now know what album Stockholm Syndrome is on.
It would be interesting to know what p1sses off fans of those clubs that are our "opposites" - say, Brighton and West Ham. Would their lists be similar? Bear in mind that Brighton fans really don't believe that their players are divers at all, and West Ham think they won a world cup and are top 6..........

Re: love football and Burnley, but no more of this nonsense please.
Don't think this has been mentioned..TIME wasting by the opposition in the first half, keepers, throw ins and any injury they can delay the play with. Then in the second half when we are winning and we take a slow throw in, we are penalised but the cocking ref didn't bother his little whistle once in the first half at nil nil when they were doing my head in with "game cocking management"!!!!! and breathe.......
