Re: Dead line day Clarets only links
Great ball that. But it came in transition after we'd unexpectedly nicked the ball. When Aberdeen were set into their defensive shape and there was less space, we struggled to find the pass. It's easy from the stand, but there were lots of occasions when a Defour would have managed to slip someone with a yard of space with a forward pass between the lines, but Westwood instead went sideways - its not a criticism because I really rate Westwood and lots of times its what we need, but there are times when we're faced with breaking down a massed defence at home where a bit more incision is the order of the day.Juan Tanamera wrote:It took Westwood all of 6 minutes to find Chris Wood with a penetrating pass.

Not sure about that. We've got Lennon, who is most definitely a pacey wide man. Brady when he's fit is also quick. Vydra has been signed to give us a pacey, direct threat down the middle.SGr wrote:Need one more for me. Pacey wide man.

Again, we’re done.
The deals we were hoping to do are both dead. We’re not going to be making a big signing from scratch at this stage.

Well we definitely need more bodies, as it's fair to say that we have quite a few injury prone players in our squad now
Lennon and Wood - probably won't play more than 30 games each as they seem prone to picking up knocks.
Mee has his long standing shin problem, but thank god we've finally got backup for him.
Barnes, Heaton, Brady, Defour all have had bad injuries over the last year, so need to be careful with them.

Bolasie is hardly from scratch, reported a couple days ago. And a back up was talked about, JWP? These look like serious targets granted neither might come off but they both sound like legitimate interest.

[James Ward Prowse]
Being linked with a £15m move for him
https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/s ... 32853.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Would be really impressed with this one if it comes off, particularly if Defour is going to have a stop/start season injury wise. Still only 23 and with the right environment I can see him back in and around the England squad. At £15m considering his age and experience already it looks like good value in this mental transfer market!

Still only have 3 wingers, and Brady’s fitness is currently uncertain. Maybe it’s something that can be sorted in January, but would’ve liked to have seen us go for one.claretspice wrote:Not sure about that. We've got Lennon, who is most definitely a pacey wide man. Agree re Defour. Need to start planning for his departure regardless of his fitness. JWP could provide that option, and gives us a right footed set piece specialist.

Re: Dead line day Clarets only links
I think that will be it now still light while we have possibly 2 of our best midfielders out
Games will start to come thick and fast now and i dont think we are prepared enough with no cover in certain places
Two players short and if we can avoid injures and suspensions then fine it's a long long way to January just hope we don't regret pushing the boat out a little bit more than we should have we don't half leave it late

Wide man and a central midfielder short.
The CM position concerns me the most as that’s the area that has been the shortcoming on the two occasions that we’ve been relegated from this division.
Get who we have fit and keep them that way, we will be fine. If injuries do continue to mount up, it could be a bit of a concern.

Nothing doing is the line from Burnley. Two and a half hours to go, but that looks to be that, unless something comes from leftfield. Not had the 'stand down' just yet, but their business looks done in terms of incomings
Look like that. Good window though, nearly perfect.
The random news re-tweeters are still circulating Bolasie & JWP for clicks.

Re: Dead line day Clarets only links
We seem to love being a player short, somewhere.
We finish each window thinking we could have done with one more in X position.
We have gotten away with it more often than not but it is a risky strategy.
We have made some very good signings in my opinion but a winger or a centre mid would have been the icing on the cake for me.

But Hendrick can move back into CM now. So I don't think that was a position we really really needed. It's just another wide man we needed due to injury issues with our current 3.arise_sir_charge wrote:We seem to love being a player short, somewhere.

Happy with Hendrick dropping back, it suits his game but I personally think Westwood and Cork are too similar and we just needed something a bit different. Would have been over the moon with Ward-Prowse and Bolasie. One of them would have made a decent window good and both them a decent window great!
