Leicester didnt squeak the Title, they won it at a canter, with games to spare. Their achievement was magnificent every way you look at it. To call it a ‘one off’ is fair, but to call it lucky is just missing the point. They were worthy Champions.

Not quite the love in of Aberdeen but I'm glad wolves have reached "The promised Land" they've been on the same long journey as us to a degree.

You’re right. We will be an attractive proposition but we said that when Owen Coyle walked out and we ended up with you know who.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote:As and when Dyche goes the club will be a far more attractive managerial proposition then it has been for a long time.
You're being a doomsayer to suit your usual position.
In many respects the manager who takes over after Dyche will be on a hiding to nothing. Massive boots to fill and not a great deal of cash to spend. So not as attractive as you think to the majority of managers.
Devils advocate is right and the stars align with managers like Dyche once a lifetime and we are where we are solely down to him- not because we are a “well run club”.

I disagree. I think when Dyche leaves, it'll be a very tempting vacancy for other managers to come in carry the baton.

Re: Targets set for Wolves by Fosun over next 7 years.
I'm guessing you are referring to the 50's/60's era of the likes of Bert Williams,Billy Wright,Bert Slater, Peter Broadbent just to name a few. They were a major force in English football but both City and Chelsea also had golden eras with outstanding players too. So I would tend to disagree that Wolves have a greater pedigree than either of the two other teams mentioned. A proud history, certainly but that applies to a lot of clubs who nowadays are finding it increasingly more and more difficult to regain and restore lost status.Caernarfon_Claret wrote:Historically Wolves a much bigger team than Man City or Chelsea so why not.

Not really. They got back to the PL long before we did in '03.tim_noone wrote:Their journey was even longer chinese backed or not.
We've done it 'the right way' and they've done it the right way then fallen back out. Now they've got there again but largely by becoming a Portuguese satellite and a rich man's play thing.

League Titles
Chelsea 6 (1 pre Abramovich)
City 5. (3 in last decade)
Wolves 3
Apart from a brief period at the end of the 1960s with City, Wolves had the most recent Golden period of the 3, pre premier league but also like us Wolves fell the furthest before rising again.

£70m isn’t a fortune when you’re starting off with a Championship standard squad.KRBFC wrote:Idiots for showing ambition, how is their not a cat in hell's chance? We’ll see if the owners are still backing Wolves in a couple of years time.
PS: They’ll get dicked tonight.

Absolutely spot on.piston broke wrote:Wolves spend £70m in a Summer the big boys spend that on a player.
Still no reason why it should work. Starting out with a bunch of strangers and no team spirit.
This is why SD only wants 3 or 4 a year and not all of them go straight into the team.

Fair enough. Didn't have the stats. to hand. My earliest memories of them are the late 50's/early60's when along with Spurs they always seemed to be our biggest rivals. Not forgetting of course stealing the Championship away from them on that glorious night at Maine Rd.Caernarfon_Claret wrote:League Titles

KRBFC does get a little overexcited and wet his panties from time to time. Let’s replace key members of a Team that got Burnley(yes, Burnley) into a Europa League spot with players who’s only achievement thus far is to get a well funded Wolves side out of the Championship. Mitigation must be given for the fact that their Manager is Portuguese. That usually has KRBFC spraying his shorts somewhat reflexively.Claret eze wrote:Really.who are we dropping?

If Wolves can't score against a team that currently contains Phil Jagielka & Leighton Baines they'll know it's going to be a very hard slog this season.

Think it's going to be a much tougher league this season. The likes of Everton, West Ham and Palace will all be much stronger. Outside the top 6 the general standard last season was dreadful.

That gets said every season and whilst some teams will be stronger, others will drop off too.jrgbfc wrote:Think it's going to be a much tougher league this season. The likes of Everton, West Ham and Palace will all be much stronger. Outside the top 6 the general standard last season was dreadful.

Re: Targets set for Wolves by Fosun over next 7 years.
Seen a few comments suggesting defeats today for Brighton and Wolves prove that there transfer policy of spending big isnt going to work
Im presuming if Burnley lose tomorrow then that equally proves right the posters who said our transfer policy has been poor and we havent signed enough players?
Personally I think jumping to conclusions based on the first game of the season is a little silly

Wolves very lucky to find themselves back in this game with a good chance of winning now. Considering the money Everton have spent it is criminal that Jagielka is still starting games.
Can’t judge a side from their first 45 minutes at this level but Wolves looked woeful. There’s obviously some talent in that side but it may take some time for them to adapt to the league.

Wouldn't go that far JBG is worth his salt in either team and could argue Hendrick isn't first xi so on revision I'd take Costa over Lennon and Jota would be a great option alongside wood but perhaps not as good as vydra will proveKRBFC wrote:The entire midfield, Neves > Westwood, Moutinho > Hendrick, Jota > JBG, Costa > Lennon.
Neves or moutinho would both replace Westwood but probably not cork or defour

I love Cork and Defour but you're off your nut if you think Neves isn't better.CBT wrote:Wouldn't go that far JBG is worth his salt in either team and could argue Hendrick isn't first xi so on revision I'd take Costa over Lennon and Jota would be a great option alongside wood but perhaps not as good as vydra will prove

We don't commit many either, but the BIG difference to most sides in the Prem is that we've got an almost impregnable wall that's so hard to break down.Rileybobs wrote:Wolves just don’t seem to commit anyone to attacks. Very lacklustre.
By the looks of it, Wolves haven't.
