You have to wonder when Gibson is going to play, especially with Mee and Tarkowski in the centre. Was Mee expected to stay? There's no way he dislodges those two.

I think we will see him against Olympiacos if we get through

There will inevitably be an injury to one of those two meaning Gibson will play. I'd be tempted to start him Thursday. Superb signing.

agree...demands of Europa mean Sean will likely use squad intelligently! ;)

Just asked a steward in the ground how many we have sold. He said just over 1,700. If that's right it's a really good turnout!

We were very lucky with injuries and suspensions to Mee and Tarks last season and yet Kevin Long had 16 appearances, so I'm not sure your point is valid. Gibson will obviously be ahead of Long in the pecking order.

I expected Heaton to start if fit.

How is my point invalid? My point was when Gibson is going to play. Unless you think he is going to naturally dislodge Mee/Tarkowski before any injuries/suspensions to either.

Heaton hasn't played a competitive game in nearly 12 months. Why risk him?

Hart played a competitive game 3 days ago and kept a clean sheet. As with Dyche it's his shirt to lose now.

Either one of Tarks or Mee could get injured or pick up a red card in the next hour, in which case Gibson plays today, and as others have said he may well get Europa league time, even if the other 2 are fit.
Basically if we are to take the challenge of the PL and the Europa League seriously, then we need at least 3 top drawer Centre backs, and in the event that both Mee and Tarks are out we don't want to be relying on Charlie Taylor to step up as we were last season.

I would love to see the 3 at the back formation that England played at the WC as it would suit our strengths massively, but cant see that happening.

Why do we keep playing Hendrick in that role?

Surely the system we played last season played the most to our strengths, considering the success it brought.

Because we are away and he is the fifth midfielder when called for. I don't like it elther but it works so go with it.

Really - where do you see the pace, distribution, comfort on the ball, and creativity up front

Finished 7th in the Premier League; are difficult to beat and qualifed for Europe. I'm bloody glad we haven't changed it.

Defensive solidarity is Dyche's first priority.

Watch him when we don't have the ball.

Expecting Gibson to start ignores the approach Dyche’s has taken with players over the years, particularly defensively. Keane had to bide his time, Tarkowski had to bide his time and I suspect the same will apply to Gibson.

As for wanting Hendrick either further back or someone else in the role, it’ll be interesting to see what Dyche has planned, when Vydra is up to speed. Again though, he may take a while to bed in.
