Joe Hart

Post by theroyaldyche » Thu Aug 16, 2018 8:48 am

Do you think Dyche signed him to bring more attention to himself?

A keeper that has poorly performed in the past couple of seasons, in the hope he and the staff can transform him back into an England starter?

I know we neeeded the urgent backup which sort of answers the question itself, but cant help think Dyche has seeked some attention.

Slight aside but I suspect his advertising income stream will soon change from Head and Shoulders to that caffeine shampoo.

I think the crafty ******* wanted a good uninjured experienced keeper to play in the nets!

The OP begs the Question:
Who else was available of this calibre and at this price?
I'd be amazed if you came up with anyone.
It was just a great bit of business by Dyche and the board, both in footballing terms and long term financially.

I think it was just a win-win all round. Can't see many negatives to signing Hart. Good press. Keeper with bags of ability. If he fails, then it's no big deal because he was struggling anyways, but if he re-finds that old form then it makes the whole club look great.

Yeh cos he’s always trying to seek attention is our Sean.

Just because he is very good with media does not mean he craves it. Quite the opposite in fact - he does pretty much the bare minimum you have to do and what he does is all about the club and the team and rarely (if ever) about him.

To me, Hart was always a top keeper, he was just never appreciated/given confidence by his manager. He needed somebody like Dyche to try and help him as an individual. Which is why I was in favour, when we were rumoured to be bringing him in. SD has said in the past how one of his aims as a manager is to improve people individually and help them become a better player and a better person.

So it made perfect sense as to why he went for him; along with the fact that we needed another keeper in, of course.

I think Sean recognises that having a top class goalkeeper makes Premier League survival more likely. How many points did Pope save us last season? You can say the same for Heaton the year before.

If we can help Hart get his mojo back, and two clean sheets in a week isn't a bad start, he'll be one of the top goalkeepers in the league. I still find it hard to believe he's a Claret.

If it works out as we all hope the £3.5m outlay could be one of the steals of the century, maybe THE steal of the century, certainly in a world where Kepa Arrizabalaga cost Chelsea £71.6m and Alisson Becker cost Liverpool £67m.

Agree with your point but Kante for 500k to Leicester will always be the steal of the century

Hart was a great addition to our squad, ok his confidence has taken a knock over the last couple of seasons but now hes with a proper football club, im sure he will redeem himself and he will want to shut his critics up, dont take your eyes off him yet Mr. Southgate
