The adverts before his insightful interview were interesting.

Boooooo
Good wage but bet he regrets not being part of what we have even if he denies it

Did an excellent job for us but time to move on and we got an excellent price for him.

He doesn't come across as caring too much about trophies, just the money and lifestyle with his gangster friends in London, init.theroyaldyche wrote:Good wage but

He did very well for us. We were good for him. We got a good fee when he went to Watford.
All very amicable I’d say. He’ll get a shrug of indifference when his name is read out from me.

As above, though I might clap when his name is read out because he was essential part of us winning the championship.

Another one here who can't contain his indifference. Although I would look really daft booing Andre Gray on Sunday anyhow, I am at the test match at Trent Bridge.

If I knew how to insert the popular gif of Alan Partridge shrugging, that's what I'd do here.

Re: Gray returns to Turf Moor
We didn't buy him for his personality or, his life outside football.
His goals were a key part in our championship title.
Did OK in the Prem too.
We also got a bloody good fee for him.
Why the hell would anyone want to boo him?

Because evidently some people have a problem with that he might be like off the pitch despite probably never actually meeting him.Buxtonclaret wrote:We didn't buy him for his personality or, his life outside football.

Really carried us for a spell in that promotion season, scored some massive goals (Bolton away twice), Fulham away (winner) to name a few.

Re: Gray returns to Turf Moor
The reasons he has no regrets:
1. 2 or 3 times more money per week.
2. Closer to his gf and family
3. Plays in a side that makes more chances than we do so favors his position.
4. Plays in a side with pace to complement him.
Let's not kid ourselves, even Steven Defour said it himself, he wants the team to start playing better football. No player wants to be chasing the ball every game.
But let him join the ex player club where players aren't doing as well anymore and his reasons to have no regrets may catch up on him.

Scored a lot more Premier League goals for us than he has for them. Also weren't we the top scorers in the Championship during his first season with us?
Re: Gray returns to Turf Moor
Are we providing the bag of cement or will Watford bring their own for the pre-match warm up?

Re: Gray returns to Turf Moor
Will be typical of Burnley. Shouldnt happen but some will boo him and some will sing his name with very little in between.
Was an excellent player for us and one of the most important in our recent history. Fired us to the title with his goals. Did more for us than many who would get a heroes welcome. But like Shackell and Austin despite being a very good and very important player for us he will get a bad reception from many.
Should get a round of applause and thats it.

He didn't have a bag of cement at his feet when scoring the hat trick against sunerland. Earned me a few quid that day. Irrespective I liked him.Spijed wrote:Are we providing the bag of cement or will Watford bring their own for the pre-match warm up?

Re: Gray returns to Turf Moor
Looks like we were joint top scorers, doesn't mean we produce the same chances in the premier league though, although admittedly it does like we are trying to change. If in part because of Defour.RocketLawnChair wrote:Scored a lot more Premier League goals for us than he has for them. Dear me are we meant to be comparing ourselves unfavourably to the bag-of-transient-s***e that is Watford now ? He's been awful there anyway so their pacey, chance-creating football doesn't appear to have helped him. I will be indifferent tomorrow if he plays.superdimitri wrote:The reasons he has no regrets:

Re: Gray returns to Turf Moor
Any Burnley fans attending would be better ignoring him and cheering our current players, why would Austin be received badly he was sold to balance the books,as far as i recall he wasn't stamping his feet for a move,Shackell is a different kettle of fish always felt his heart wasn't in another promotion fight, but he's welcome to count his pennies he won't have any trophies to remember his career by.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Will be typical of Burnley. Those slagging him off, be careful. I got told off for saying Darikwa wasn't very good the other day. Apparently we love to weigh in on ex - players. Not quite true when half of the posters still adore Jay Rod and Danny Ings.

probably 'cos he was reported as saying he couldn't wait to get down the motorway to Southampton days after his transfer.tiger76 wrote:why would Austin be received badly
I would never boo a former player though...they all tried for our team!

Thought Andre was superb and his movement has good as ever.
Obviously didn't want him to score or have a good game, but I am glad he shut up one or two of his clueless Claret critics

A little mixed I would say (see what I did there?)cricketfieldclarets wrote:How was his reception?
Seriously though, some clapped some booed, I noticed he didn't celebrate much when he scored.
Personally, I gave him a polite clap as he was subbed.
