Re: Westwood
Dreadful 2nd half he could not keep the ball or find a Claret shirt

Re: Westwood
Yet still he showed everywhere.
They were a good outfit, and our lads stuck to the game plan.
Tonite was one of those times we were out played. For periods of the second half they kept the ball well enough, and it looked nice, but they failed to hurt us. Only one clear cut chance and adebayor skied his header, so I’d say the lads done well, including Westwood.

Re: Westwood
First 55 minutes he oozed class. He struggled in the last thirty when we sat in.
Re: Westwood
Excellent signing for us and with his displays has silenced any doubters
Re: Westwood
Excellent back up for the outstanding Defour.

Well you try and play in a central midfield 2 against a team of thatvquslity with HendrickTop Claret wrote:Dreadful 2nd half he could not keep the ball or find a Claret shirt

Re: Westwood
Aston Villa fans couldn’t wait to get shut if him. Been great every time I’ve seen him play.

Re: Westwood
He was excellent first half, and played well in the second.
Lucky to have him, and the arm band was well deserved.

Re: Westwood
Hendrick was no better either. Lost count the amount of time the pair of them gave the ball away.BleedingClaret wrote:Well you try and play in a central midfield 2 against a team of thatvquslity with Hendrick
We need to improve with the ball if we want to progress, gave it away far to often. Brilliant performance without the ball though, kept our shape

Re: Westwood
Just this bit. 2 up top is OK if you can get the ball to them, but you are bound to be a bit light in the middle.BleedingClaret wrote:Well you try and play in a central midfield 2 against a team of thatvquslit....

Re: Westwood
They closed him down completely second half, allied with us really struggling to keep hold of the ball. But top notch in the first half.

Re: Westwood
Best player on the field in the first half. Second half was more difficult and they flooded the middle and dominated him and Hendrick (who looked lost all night).

What a bit of business it was getting this guy for what now amounts to pocket change.

Re: Westwood
Absolutely great signing and shows what our recruitment policy, for all it's "apparent" failings can actually come up with. I.E. underrated and under valued players with an awful lot of potential not being tapped. He really only got his proper chance because of Defour's injury and I thought he was superb again last night, but as others have said he suddenly and uncharacteristically started giving the ball away mid way through the second half and seemed to be struggling to hold the Turks back which was a surprise.
Re: Westwood
The ball he put in for Barnes' header was fantastic and deserved a better finish.
Re: Westwood
He's very much a 'does the job' type player.
You don't notice him unless you watch him, he's capable of a splitting pass, but generally he'll just keep in moving.
You can see why he's had a decent career and the fact he isn't stand out is why he's not always rated (a la Villa)
