Atmosphere tonight.

Post by gandhisflipflop » Thu Aug 16, 2018 10:51 pm

Sat in JHL block 2, shocking. Cricketfield end did their best to get we are the longside going and we were on mute at a time the team needed a boost. Still, glad we won. Utc

Thought it was ok to say they had no fans.

To be fair there was no other fans to bounce off.

I thought the stadium really got behind the team nicely at the times they had to.

There's a 5 minute clip someone put up on the link thread earlier.
Crowd sounded ok on that?

It was very good to say we didn't have much of the ball for long periods.

It was bouncing. I was very impressed. Its almost impossible at times to create an atmosphere when the away team bring a poor following and therefore tonight couldve been worse.

Wouldnt quite say we were the twelfth man but it was a bloody good support. And most importantly positive from first kick to last.

I genuinely thought it was dreadful.

We are also desperately in need of some new songs!

I thought it was great for what it was. It’s not every game you get all four sides of the ground singing ‘we are the longside’. In fact, I can’t actually remember when that last happened.

The repertoire is thin and uninventive. Picked up for the last 5-10 minutes of normal time when we were pushing for the goal. Atmosphere peaked when we scored. The Aberdeen fans should have inspired us, as it would be immense to see the Turf rocking en masse to just a couple of songs now and again. Not just sections of the ground.

Genuinely can barely hear it in other stands, especially when the chants get quick... Turns Into a big blur.

That's why Lancashire homes resonates because its really hard to speed it up...

We need an anthem of some sort.

One thing about the atmosphere - when there are no opposition fans to complain about time wasting, there's a lot less pressure on the ref to do anything about it.

the atmosphere was very good, considering no away fans and a pretty uninspiring display from us - for the most part of it.
early in the second half, when we had a spurt on, it was excellent.
no booing either, which must help the team. very good overall.

Thought the atmosphere was very strong tonight. You could tell people were not in their usual seat which I think helped.

At one stage during the 30mins of Rovers songs Come on Burnley was reduced to normal speed.

Wow! I actually thought it was decent tonight considering no opposition. The fans seemed to get behind the players at important points.

Nowhere near the best atmospheres I’ve enjoyed, but they sang quite a lot to get behind the lads.

Brought my Man City supporting uncle tonight and he reckoned it was a cracking atmosphere bar the end of the second half because it had got nervy. However he is a Man City fan and is used to a library style atmosphere at the emptihad

I thought it was pretty decent considering those pesky Turks ran rings round us for a decent part of the game.

I thought everyone was a nervous wreck. I know I was. With away goals counting double both after 90 and 120 minutes (hence why Dyche took Barnsey off, because there could be no penalties) there was no end to the tension.

I was worried prior to the game with having no fans to bounce off, but in the end the atmosphere was excellent.

I thought the CFS made a decent effort , though we were so bloody awful at times there was little to inspire the fans , not to mention no away fans and a team that meant nothing even to it’s own “ fans” . Many late arrivals and the game started in a near silence . I think the Greek game will be a fantastic night though on the turf though .

Nothing wrong with it to be fair.

Not surprising it was quiet in the second half, as it was the poorest we've played for a while.

Thought it was funny when cricketfield sang, your not singing anymore to their non existant fans .

Why werent they allowed to bring any fans?

It wasn't bad to be honest, especially with a pretty boring game with no away fans.

It is a shame there's no new songs, that aren't insanely fast, but, that's just one of those things.

It's not surprising seeing as at times everyone was understandably very nervy as the game could have gone either way. Whenever we had a half chance, I thought the atmosphere improved.

As soon as we scored, I never heard a peep out of their fans!

We got behind the team at the right times.
