Athens - Why are the Club so slow?

After the match last night the Club issued a statement saying where the pickup point for tickets would be in Athens and urging fans to stay in that area.

They knew that fans had already booked accommodation closer to the ground and were booking flights.

Why could they have not put that announcement out last week in anticipation of a win? There would have been nothing lost.

Also why have tickets not gone on sale at 9am today so that people know that they have got one before making plans six days before the game?

We need a communications manager.

Come on TY - you did this thread last week. It would be totally unprofessional for the club to announce it before the final result last night.

Hope you have a good trip ;)

If it the same as Istanbul, everyone will get a ticket.

Im not sure announcing details last week would have been the best thing to do.

TY give your head a shake, your off to Athens next week with tweedledum and tweedledee. Just sit back relax and enjoy your trip. The club did a great job for those that went to Istanbul and they will do the same in Athens. UTC

Should get 1600 tickets at least, if 5% of the ground capacity.
I'd expect everyone wanting a ticket will get 1 with ease.

agreed. without doubt. we only took 550 to Istanbul, no reason why we will take many more here.

I think the details last night were a good thing so people can quickly sort out their arrangements.
But I can't understand why the ticket details weren't put out also, have they not discussed the arrangements beforehand? This should have been done in-house before and then confirmed immediately after the game or at least 0900 this morning.

I don’t understand why accommodation is booked before we actually qualified for the next round- or have I misunderstood?

They've been to Athens this week to scout the place out, talk to police etc. They will have ear marked a hotel to dish tickets out from before we qualified. they didn't stay at the hotel in Istanbul that we collected tickets from

Can't fault the club for this trip so far.

You really think the club should announce details for the next round before they've played the decider in a 0-0 tie?

You're scraping the barrel of complaints here or fishing. They got the information out as soon as it was confirmed, people booking accommodation before it was confirmed knew the risks.

I have no problem with the club’s arrangements who have done a good job, learning each time. It is unfortunate that the square earmarked, and hotel, is a mile east of the Acropolis and thus away from the area many have booked (even if in central Athens). But it is what it is.

I am assuming that the coach is not mandatory - many will have flights arriving and a hotel needing them to check in before midnight. Picking up the tickets is one thing, leaving for the ground hours before the game in packed traffic may not fit in with their wider arrangements.

The football club are not here to walk you round ,holding your hand .
They are only doing what UEFA tell them (ticket distribution and such)
Would you like a club rep to Bob round to your hotel and give you a welcome meeting and plan a few sight seeing trips ,as well ?

Jesus, man up

Is that because football fans have a long history of listening to someone instead of making their own stuff up?

Got my ticket sorted out less than 24 hours after the game ended, what more do you want?

Would also have been disrespectful to Luzern. Zenit St Petersburg overturned a 4-0 deficit so not like it’s impossible.
