And of course Cotterill has gone on to be a successful manager since leaving us ,he’s only been sacked 5 timesKRBFC wrote:The football was tough to watch and the long winless run was abysmal but we were that bad and short on numbers, Michael Duff played upfront for us..... Nobody mentioned Valois yet?
Re: Most divisive Burnley 11
Why do I give a sh*t what he's done since leaving us? How well he did or didn't do at other clubs is irrelevant to the job he did here.joey13 wrote:And of course Cotterill has gone on to be a successful manager since leaving us ,he’s only been sacked 5 times

You mean the job here where he didn’t win a match in 19 and is classed as a great managerKRBFC wrote:Why do I give a sh*t what he's done since leaving us? How well he did or didn't do at other clubs is irrelevant to the job he did here.

Wasn't the 19th match a home game against Luton? Drew 0-0 in the most boring game I've ever watched. Andy Gray missed a sitter.

How to bring all the antagonistic posters out of the woodwork: start a thread on divisive players. Brilliant!

Seems like KRBFC prefers Cotterill to our current successful manager , I would say it is Dyche that is the great manager

The first name that came into my head when I read the thread title was the aforementioned Tony Grant. I’ve seen full blown arguments in the stands over him.
Another one for me is Steve Jones. I never, ever rated the lad yet others seemed to think he was brilliant.
Dave Jones has already been discussed at length but they’re probably the 3 that immediately spring to mind.

Didn't our winless run end when we tubbed Plymouth 4-0? Or something like that.

Yes. Paul Weller. When I held an ST for the Jimmy McIlroy Stand, there was a bloke who would scream blue murder at the lad every home game. He would wait for the slightest error or misplaced pass and then lay into him. After he scored an OG against Coventry at the Turf, the bloke literally turned the air blue.Fretters wrote:Paul Weller, especially in his early years when he was developing under Mullen. Then some fans never seemed to forgive him for the trial at West Ham. I think only his illness stopped him signing? He was great at times when he got back regularly under Stan, and that goal at Oldham in the Waddle season was something else.
We used to joke about how far into the game would we get before this gobsh1te screamed "GET OFF THE PITCH WELLER!".
I recall confronting him about it once, and he said he would see me outside! He even threatened to 'sort my step-sister out too.
Wazzock.

Would be easier to name those who hardly caused division.
Trippier maybe one

Graham Alexander..... the slowest player Iv ever seen. Even slower than “once he scores he’ll bag a few” Lukas Jutkiewicz

Think it was an injury that stopped Paul Smith moving on as well. He had a SWEET left foot...a joy watching him develop in the reserves!Fretters wrote:Paul Weller, especially in his early years when he was developing under Mullen. You are talking out of your arse, I never said Cotterill was great, to keep us up given the circumstances was a fine achievement, i'm sure we had like 9 signed professional players when he walked in and barely any money to spend. Comparing then to anything post 2009 is utter bsjoey13 wrote:Seems like KRBFC prefers Cotterill to our current successful manager , I would say it is Dyche that is the great manager

Re: Most divisive Burnley 11
I never quite understood the bile aimed at Branchy, at no time was he approaching our worst player at the time - he was on and off like most wingers. When he went to wing back he was a bit shaky at first, but I always thought it was natural for a winger to take a while to get the defensive nowce so it didn't over bother me. By the time he was hanging up his Claret boots he was a decent enough full back.4:20 wrote:Graham branch had a bit of a torrid run with the crowd and then all of a sudden became a bit of a cult hero. Awesome at penalties, we used to get them back then. Thought he was a decent play maker as well.Right_winger wrote:Graham Alexander..... the slowest player Iv ever seen. Even slower than “once he scores he’ll bag a few” Lukas Jutkiewicz

I'd say Paul Stewart was anything BUT divisive as he was universally loathed.Cleveleys_claret wrote:Paul Stewart, joe jakub, mark ford, winstanley, philiskirk, john gayle, iwelumo
Judging by another thread, it looks like we can add Vydra to this list, and he's not even kicked s ball yet.
