Had we done so, and had we then just ground out the second half being no more or less creative than we were, I think you'd see some 8s being given without the performance level really changing from what we've witnessed today. And given these are individual player ratings, then if the player I'm rating wasn't culpable for any of the calamities which were the goals we conceded I dont see why the rating should change.
If your man would have put away the relatively simple chance to get a shot on goal and even score, and we had hung on for a 2-1 win as you suggest, then of course the 8's would have been on show, and worthy, as the shut out would have been at the expense of some great defensive displays, and even counter attack chances.
The fact however is, he didn't score, we went on to conceed a further 2 goals, both could be said sloppy and avoidable, and we didn't create a single chance of note worthy of being classed as a chance.
You can't rate a player as an 8, for a 45 minute half that was good, not world class, just good, then in the 2nd we were as poor as we've ever been in a single half. It was equally poor at both ends of the pitch, not a mistake, not 1 man having an off day, but several players putting it nicely, an off day.
I'm not singling out Jeff at all, every single player. I thought Tarky was the best player, scored, won a lot, looked composed bringing the ball down and out from.the back, nothing really got past him as such, however he was part of the team that Conceeded 3 at home to Watford, and in truth in the 2nd half, played like a team that had never played together before.
