Crowd 3 - terrible really, zero atmosphere as usual. What has happened to the atmosphere since Coyle left? I know we don't play the most exciting crowd pleasing stuff but surely we can do better.

You thought Lennon was abysmal but JBG was good? sounds like an agenda to me. They were both absolutely awful, one JBG corner aside. I don't see what any of them really offer, JBG continues to get high praise and good marks yet he's scored about 2 goals since he joined us 2 years ago. They might run around a lot and look threatening but when it comes down to it, neither have the quality to produce often enough for my liking.

Gudmundsson is crucial for us but you're right he wasn't good at all today

Cool heads needed. We've played lots worse and won, even if losing the opening home game is never ideal.

Hart - 7 - no chance with any of the goals.

Lowton - 5 - decent enough first half, but his crossing radar was off throughout and only he knows what on earth he was doing for the fatal third goal.

Ward - 5 - would like too see the first two Watford goals again but it looked to me like he was too slow to close the cross for the first, and left too much space between him and Mee for the second. Looked leggy throughout in truth.

Tarks - 7 - good header for the goal and generally solid enough even if our defending was a bit scrambled at times.

Mee - 6 - as for Tarks- generally just about ok defensively but it was a bit of a scramble at times.

Westwood - 7 - ok thoughout, and very good at times first half. At times, hed be more effective (and Lennon in particular would be more effective) if he moved the ball a tad quicker. Faded a bit, not for the first time, but perhaps that was more a reflection on the fact he was confronted with a massed defence.

Cork - 8 - ran the game first half and solid after the break.

Hendrick - 8 - best Burnley player on the park until surprisingly subbed, presumably as a result of Thursday's endeavours. Possibly his best performance in that roving advanced midfield role.

Lennon - 7 - a huge threat during an impressive first half performance, but with Watford able to sit deeper in the second half after the two goals, his threat became a bit more intermittent.

JBG - 6 - a big part of some really nice one touch play down our left in the first half, but he rarely got half a yard on his left foot to deliver a cross, and he clearly doesn't back himself to cut inside from the left and deliver a right footed cross, all of which is presumably why he prefers the right.

Wood - 4 - never really in the game. Not sure if that bite is still affecting him but i also dont think hes ideally suited to playing ahead of Hendrick, Lennon and JBG , because he prefers running in behind to playing with his back to goal.

Barnes - 6 - Ok, won a few free kicks but no huge goal threat.

Vokes - 6 - should have scored with his first touch but no great opportunity to get into the game.

Taylor - 6 - added a bit down the left but it was too late.

Two sloppy beginnings to halves, and a failure to capitalise when we had Watford on the ropes first half, has cost us dear today. After being stung into action early, we were terrific first half, playing some super stuff and getting in behind Watford at will, only to lack a finishing touch (only partly down to luck). But Watford were always a threat and after a calamitous start to the second half failed to heed earlier warnings, we once again showed our old weakness when it comes to breaking down a deep defence, even if we did have the odd moment.

But if we replicate that first half regularly, we'll be ok.

I could be wrong but I'm sure Gudmundsson didn't get any extra rest after the world cup and came into pre-season at the same time as the rest of the players. I know he didn't play that much at the world cup but other Prem managers rested their world cup players and maybe this is behind his form so far?

Getting caught cold in both halves is unforgivable. Some dreadful football in the second half. No threat, no desire to get back into the game, no pace and no plan b. Terrible day at the office.

Bizarre game to be honest. Starting really poorly then clearly bossed the rest of the first half and should have been in front, then started the second half even worse and then offered absolutely nothing for the rest of it.

Hopefully a one off, but those last thirty five minutes were hard work, and our best player was taken off when we were 2 goals down.

Ward 5 - alright but not good enough
Lennon 5 - good first, absolutely non-existent second

Wood 5 - poor, but feeding off scraps

As already said, fine if that 2nd half is a one off, but we looked as like we'd done a full season already, and thats not a good sign.

Lowton 6- some decent crosses but poor in second half defensively .
Mee 5- all at sea with Gray and denney.
Tarkowski 6- good block to stop certain goal but like new struggled with Watfords two up top system.
Ward 5- not his best game
Cork 5 some misplaced passes which is unlike him
Westwood 5- Watford and Hughes passed him by.
Gudmondson 5- some flashes but Watford got to grips with him.
Lennon 5- flashes when we got ball down in first half but like all second half didn't perform.
Hendrick 5- doesn't seem to know what role he is playing, lacks end product. May have been fouled in box but in reality should have broke net. Also in second half seemed to make same runs than wingers.
Wood 3- no penetration or hold up play. Also a couple of crosses in first half he should have got somewhere near to.
Barnes 5- game had gone and players looked to have given up when he came on.
Vokes 6- header that was close and a few head ons
Taylor 5- hard to judge when game had gone

Dreadful 2nd half performance the worst since Hull away boxing day 2016.
Our squad is far to lightweight for Thursday /Sunday games at this high level. We need to make 11 changes in Greece and throw the game Premier league is our bread and butter and the money that comes with it.
Everton struggled last season due to the europa league and we will.

I never look at anybody elses markings before I submit my own and I can't believe how generous I have been after watching that dreadful performance. We made Watford look world beaters. Deeny and Gray battered Tarks and Mee. Westwood can't play a full 90 and once again he went awol in the 2nd half. Midfield is a real problem, bar Cork we are extremely lacking and can't rely on the never fit Defour or Brady

Hart 6 - not at fault for the goals. Think he parries too much though and nearly dropped a clanger at the end. Distribution good.
Lowton 6 - plays some immense balls.
Tarky 6 - good goal. Defended well but always looks like he has too much confidence on the ball and could lose it.
