Yeah we do. We go from passing sideways and backwards with one up front to passing it sideways and backwards with two up front.

Why didnt we bring on our pacey winger (or two) to run against tired legs, or even another creative midfielder to unlock their defence??

Oh that’s right, because we don’t have them. We have two target men and a bunch of defenders on our bench.

Summer transfer window has failed to address many of our issues, January seriously needs to.

A lot will depend on our league position in January.

I suspect that will greatly influence how much money we spend (if any ).

Our plan b is to hoof it quicker, less time passing around at the back and more time wellying it. Proper old fashioned dinosaur football but we grind out results

we played some really good stuff in the first half today, got in behind Watford loads. Watford had a bollocking at half time for not working hard enough, closed us down quicker and our lack or creativity in midfield came to the fore again. Inept in the second half

Similar, albeit less extreme story at Southampton though. It’s becoming a theme - which is worrying given the opposition is supposed to be on a similar level to us.

Spending £0 cannot be an option regardless.

Happened a lot last 2 years. We have a good half, our team meeting seems to be keep on doing what you're doing.
Their manager seems to work on addressing things at half time, making changes, tactical switches, which is why we often struggle second 45.

I mean even our plan b is written in the scouting notes. "If behind or level and trying to affect it they'll throw on Vokes at around 70/75".

We played well mostly. Bar a gift goal, their other 2 were decent goals. Our goal was swift and we had other chances. Every week, teams you think should get a result, do not. Prem league....Every point is won by a very slim margin. A piece of luck, a ref decision, a wonder goal, a mistake.

So many of our points were by that slim margin, last season. No so yesterday for us. Next week, perhaps.

Up the Clarets.

Because they’re injured?

Dyche has said himself that the balance isnt right at the moment.

Vydra, Brady and Defour would make a big difference.

The forward line needs a big upgrade starting in Jan

Well said, the panic seems to have set in already with some. We ALWAYS lose our first home game in the PL now, it's a pattern. In fact yesterday was probably a good omen. You are right about the 3 you mentioned, I think people are forgetting the quality of what we already have, just out injured. And it is no given that we should beat Watford, they are a decent side managed by a decent manager.
You are also right about the forward line and I have been saying this for months. So many on here have been wanting wide men and centre backs in the windows but no-one seems to realise that we scored less than a goal a game last season even though we finished 7th, that is disgraceful even for a relegated team. We have okay strikers but that is all they are, okay, they are nothing special and I doubt if any would play regularly for another PL side. If we go behind in a game how many of us have much faith in us getting back? Yes we did it briefly yesterday but our equaliser came from a CB. I had zero faith in a comeback once we went two behind because how many times have we scored 3 in the last year or two? It's all very well having a great defence (and we have - yesterday we fell behind to two great goals) but when we fall behind it is always a terrible struggle afterwards. We have international GKs coming out of our ears, we now have so many decent CBs that Dyche has a selection problem, when we have everyone fit we have plenty of wide players and half decent midfielders. What we DON'T have is a real quality striker who scares the life out of the opposition. I don't mean just a target man, we have those, especially in Vokes, I mean someone who is inventive, creative and fast, someone who will take a man on and actually beat him, someone who can, yes, win penalties if needs be. We don't get penalties because we don't get the ball into the box to players feet because we have no-one who can do that. We had one in Gray but he decided he wanted away, but that, albeit slightly better, is the kind of player we are sadly missing.

The strikers are fine, it's goals from midfield that we're lacking. The commentator on yesterday's match said that each of our strikers outscored our combined midfield last season. Cork's early season goalscoring is a good sign.

There's always one who would fine fault in us finishing 7th!

I agree, but the doubt is whether those 3 will ever be on the pitch at the same time due to the never ending injuries to Brady and Defour.

It's not the finishing 7th I find fault with, that was brilliant, but the fact that, as many on here have pointed out, we have been found out last season, let alone this. The sitting back and hoping to nick a goal has not quite been working right for a while. Look at the second half of last season, although we did brilliantly we did so on the back of a fantastic first half to the season and the fact that no-one else was good enough to take advantage of our slump. Okay we took a dive in form when we lost Brady and Defour, almost any team would, and that was just bad luck, but unless we address the striker situation in the next window we are again going to find goals hard to come by. If we only sign one player in January it HAS to be a striker of some quality.
For what it's worth I don't have too many worries about us this season, especially when we get everyone fit, but unless we start scoring goals I think we can wave bye bye to another top eight finish.

By the way, if you are going to quote someone quote everything, not just the bit out of context that you think you might be able to argue over.
