Book of Condolence opened for Jimmy McIlroy

Post by ClaretTony » Tue Aug 21, 2018 2:37 pm

Just placed this on the site at

http://www.uptheclarets.com/book-of-con ... my-mcilroy" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's in the Bob Lord reception and can be signed any time between 8:30 and 6 each day.

Many of us who live away would like the opportunity of signing but that will not be possible. Would a suitable site be available on here for our condolences to his family - perhaps being passed on to his children afterwards?

I can do one of two things - I can set up a thread on the board and get it passed on to be included or I can physically go and write your words in the book on your behalf.

More than happy to do either.

I'll be back online in about 30 mins to check which you prefer.

I posted a thread about this earlier today and asked if there could be a digital condolence book for those of us who live abroad or away from Burnley. Cannot the club do this?

I, and many others who live far away would be happy with the thread on here to be passed on later. Thank you for your offer of going down to the club but it would be a terrible imposition for you to do that for everyone. If the club do it then (as Suratclaret suggests) then that would be fine - if not then Up the Clarets would be quite acceptable.

A very good idea and could be printed off at a later date and added to the original book.

There will be many, not just Clarets, who would wish to sign such a digital condolence book.

Perhaps another way Tony would be for those who cannot get here in person would be for them to email their condolences to you and then print them off and collate them into a ring binder to pass on to the family.i fear that if you open a thread on here it will get littered with posts that are unrelated to the thread

I can't do a digital message so would prefer to write a message on here but I realise I'm in a minority.

Nice gesture by the club, I'm pretty sure supporters & even people from a further different footballing allegiances are also paying respect in this sad time.

There was a really nice online condolence book for Sir Tom Finney when he passed and it was full of exiled fans paying their respects. Would be nice to see the same for Jimmy, if possible.
