Songs that have become football chants
The mention of Chicory Tip’s ‘Son of my Father’ on the ‘Worst Song Ever’ thread made me think about songs that have become terrace anthems. Here are some others I can think of:
The Wild Rover - No Nay Never
Sailing - No One Likes Us
Sloop John B - Leicester sang it last season about winning the league.
Can we think of others?

Re: Songs that have become football chants
Sloop John B is a HORRENDOUS football singalong. Embarrassing. Same goes for that one England were chanting at the world cup with the drummer and tuba player in the crowd (based on a BONEY M track). Total CRINGE
Re: Songs that have become football chants
Tom Hark - "Premier League, you're having a laugh"
Achy Breaky Heart - "We've got Defour, Steven Defour"
Guantanamera - "You only sing when you're winning"

Oh my darling Clementine.
Do the lyrics for the Adams Family Song for Burnley, it would be awesome. I can't think of the wit right now but ending in 'We are the Bur n ley!'
De de de dm (clap clap)
De de de dm (clap clap)
De de de dm
De de de dm
De de de dm (clap clap!)
Not sure how 'Their house is a museum' might be transcribed, it sounds more like a ****-take of deadwood. Or the whole song might be a pisstake of Rovers, either way i.e the deadwood fam i ly.

You'll never walk alone
The Dambusters March
Cwm Rhondda ("You're not singing anymore" and other variants)
Knees up Mother Brown
Kumbayah m' Lord
Delilah (Stoke City)
I'm forever blowing bubbles (WHU)
I can remember the days of "Harry, Harry Thompson" to the tune of the Trumpet Voluntary and "Tiptoe to the Longside" - a parody of Tiny Tim's Tiptoe though the Tulips

Re: Songs that have become football chants
Confused here! Every football chant is based on a song isn't it?
Beatles: Yellow Submarine: We're all going on a European tour.
Que Sera Sera (some French woman? Edith Piath?)
Even Burnely, Burneley etc is based on 'Be kind to your web footed friend' isn't it?
Georgie Best superstar etc was of course from Jesus Christ superstar.
Even the 'Bertie Mee said to Bill Shankly' etc is based on 'Knock kneed chicken and a knocked kneed hen etc'
I do note some of the WW2 tunes are disappearing.
I haven't heard 'roll out the barrell'
or 'Bless em all, bless em all, the long and the short and the tall' for ages.

Re: Songs that have become football chants
A few mostly oldies....
Amazing Grace: Burnley, Burnley, Burnley, Burnleeey etc ?
Battle Hymn of The Republic / John Browns Body: Glory Glory ...Spurs go marching on ; Glory glory Man United etc + Where was the Goalie when the ball was in the net (not heard that since the 60s).
Small Faces' Sha la la la lee: Man City had a good Summerbee song to this tune but it was fairly widely used tune to more chants.
Jim Reeves' Distant Drums : I hear the sound of distant bums.....
US Marines, song (From the halls of Montezuma..). : Man U fans used to do a pretty good take on this (From the banks of the River Irwell....)
Land of Hope and Glory : We hate Nottingham Forest, we hate Liverpool too.....
Talking of Forest... Mull of Kintyre: "City ground, mist rolling in from the TRent...
Back in 60s 70s it was usual for popular/well know songs/ tunes to be taken up by fans into chants. I'm not sure modern "urban music" gives the same opportunity.

" Can't help falling in love ( with you ) " , Elvis Presley hit from the 1961 film " Blue Hawaii " ....
" You'll never walk alone " , from the 1945 musical " Carousel " by Rodgers & Hammerstein ...
" That's Amore " ( If you're sat in Row Z & you're hit on the head, that's Zamora ! ) , 1953 hit for Dean Martin ...
