Jack Rodwell signs for Rovers.
No joke, he's on a short term deal.
Potentially a really good signing if he sorts himself out..

Wow. This could be s very astute signing. If he flops theyve lost nothing. If he doesnt he could be worth a few quid.

Re: Jack Rodwell signs for Rovers.
Did a training course for a group of Sunderland supporters on Wednesday, and baring in mind they’re in league 1, they wait to see the back of him. I was surprised, I’ve watched him since he played centre half for England in the Victory shield final at Scunthorpe but he has never really delivered.
Re: Jack Rodwell signs for Rovers.
Struggling to understand why there’s a thread on this? If we are to truly progress mentally we need to worry about Blackburn when it’s something significant - not when they’re signing some ex sh*t Sunderland player.

Re: Jack Rodwell signs for Rovers.
Why is there a thread about the signing by Rovers of a player who had great potential and had great things expected of him?
No idea why there would be a thread..

I'd have took him here on a deal until the rest of the season.

We are short in midfield, he'd have been the best available.Rumbletonk wrote:I'm now seriously questioning my support for you as our next manager

Not so sure, he hasn't played a game this calender year has he?KRBFC wrote:We are short in midfield, he'd have been the best available.
He'd be miles off the pace, we'd have to carry him for a reasonable while and that's after the time he'd have to spend training to get closer to match fit.
If he'd made more than 2 league appearances last season I'd agree with you.
Re: Jack Rodwell signs for Rovers.
A fair point, I think he was training at Watford during pre-season or maybe on trial, I just think we're short in midfield.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote:Not so sure, he hasn't played a game this calender year has he?

Re: Jack Rodwell signs for Rovers.
We are short in midfield but filling it up with Jack Rodwell doesn't sound like a logical idea. Still like to see Toure here but I realise it's hardly likely to happen

Re: Jack Rodwell signs for Rovers.
If you can post about dogs and house rental then a desperate signing for them is stop the presss stuff. I shouldn't have said anything really, I'm not arsed either way.Claretmatt4 wrote:Whilst we're playing in Europe though?

Phil Malley's still a free agent.KRBFC wrote:We are short in midfield, he'd have been the best available.
Rodwell brings baggage as well as talent. (Above all else, he knows how to lose.) And evidence suggests that it wouldn't take a lot of baggage to turn his positive into negative. I think I'd rather have Joey Barton back.

Re: Jack Rodwell signs for Rovers.
When I saw he was without a club and was training with Watford, I thought he might be worth a punt... but there’s not been a queue of teams trying to sign him up.
Could be a shrewd signing though

If he starts showing some of that form he showed for a few months about eight years ago he could be a good signing.

I've checked and he was back over at Everton from the looks of it, with their under 23's.KRBFC wrote:A fair point, I think he was training at Watford during pre-season or maybe on trial, I just think we're short in midfield.
Fair play to Everton for helping him out.

Re: Jack Rodwell signs for Rovers.
As CT could testify I was a big fan of Phil Malley at the time. Every team needs someone to do the dirty stuff in midfield. I unlike many Clarets fans didn't expect or want him to spray forty yard passes (not that he could have). Football has moved on but I think an updated version of a Malley, Bally, type would have made an excellent bit of business this summer. We needed someone who could do the Marney job, sadly I still think we do. Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but it would free the footballers up to play. .dsr wrote:Phil Malley's still a free agent.

He is International class in so much his agent can get clubs to offer him lucrative contracts similar to those awarded to other non playing wasters.

For anybody out there worrying that fiddlers are doing better than expected.
They haven’t played anybody above 14th yet and whilst unbeaten, they only have 1 win.
Bottom half come Christmas.

Re: Jack Rodwell signs for Rovers.
He hasn’t played first team football for about a year the reports say. I’m not even sure he was playing at all? If Mowbray is anything like Dyche then Rodwell won’t be playing until November.
I wonder what they’re paying him, considering they have a history of paying over the odds for players, and he was on about £70K per week at Sunderland. £20k?

Re: Jack Rodwell signs for Rovers.
Today's game at home to Brentford will be a marker as to how much progress Rovers have made,by all accounts they were lucky to grab a point against Reading in midweek, and surely they can't be awarded 2 penalties every match.piston broke wrote:For anybody out there worrying that fiddlers are doing better than expected.
