Jimmy Dunne good

Post by Bigvince » Sat Aug 25, 2018 11:24 pm

Just been on the hearts forum, they are really impressed with our Jimmy’s debut in their 1-0 win against Kilmarnock.
Not seen much of the lad, but everywhere he plays he seems to get rave reviews.

Kevin Long is getting better and better with each game he plays in my view.
Jimmy Dunne will be a top player for us if he carries on progressing like he is.

Don’t recall anyone having said they hate Kevin Long.

As for Dunne, I’ve not seen him play really for more than a year but he came back from both Barrow and Accrington with praise ringing in his ears.

Fair play for Kevin for sticking with us all this time. Am a bit surprised he hasn’t gone off and had a career mind...reckon he’d be a real force in the Championship now

Its this sort of signing that will justify our investment in high profile club cast offs / lower league youth gambles. Even if he doesnt make it with us we should make a serious profit on him. That will more than pay for The George Green, Josh Ginnelly, Harry Flowers etc

Cant understand how so many people criticise the approach we have taken. Hopefully though Dunne will be one that makes it with us in the future. Saw him at Accy last season. While he didnt stand out in the game itself, he looked a presence even at such a young age. Clearly has talent.

Long has been excellent when called upon. His performances alongside Gibson have shown what a leader he is. I mean Gibson is a 15 million pound defender who has been on the fringes of he England side, yet Long looks the more accomplished defender.

Totally agree. It was a strategy we had to employ really as our youngsters were too far away from the level we needed. Bringing in castoffs that were better than what we had has closed the gap and improved our competitiveness at that level. Hopefully this should see us getting a better standard of youngster signing up for us over the next few years

A class act played well in both friendlies and could make the breakthrough into the first team.Kevin Long is also a solid defender and I dont get the haters either.I feel the same about Jeff Hendrick who I rate highly

Good to see the usual suspects lagging.
Can't see it lasting long though.

It'll do him good performing well in a team doing well, with pressure on them getting regular results.

Big test for Jimmy and Hearts this weekend when they travel to Ibrox,if Hearts can emerge from Glasgow still unbeaten, maybe they are a genuine contender for the title.

Think they need to work on their offside trap

Jimmy Adamson employed that offside trap in the 1970s. It worked then because being in an offside position was considered 'offside' where of course now it's more confusing and pretty stupid to employ such tactics.

I wonder if we could use the 'failed freekick' routine these days. I suspect not. It was something like this but with more time between the dummy and the kick (any excuse to see my favourite player score my favourite goal in my favourite team!).
