Thursday - come out all guns blazing?

Post by LoveCurryPies » Sun Aug 26, 2018 12:19 pm

Are we going to see a more aggressive Burnley on Thursday? If so, who would you play up front? Any chance of us playing 3 up front....Barnes, Wood & Vokes?

Not unless it's 0-0 at half time with nothing else to lose. Would be good to see Vydra on the pitch

I think after what happened we should be playing a full strength side with a huge emphasis on attack. But that is me and I am not manager of Burnley.

I think for SD not conceding in the first 20 mins is as important as scoring. If we went all out and conceded I think the crowd would become deflated. Think SD will send out the team with the intention of not conceding and trying to grab a goal before half time.

If we are only going to send out a team trying not to concede, I’m not sure I can be bothered to make the 2 hour journey to Turf Moor.

To me, we come out determined to score 2 or 3 in the first half and only “park the bus” when we have done so.

I’ve, sadly, seen Burnley relegated too often. In most of them seasons they came out “all guns blazing” then conceded and lost the will. It’s just another game. Play how we know, for at least an hour, then weigh up the situation.

Go for the jugular from the off
If Vydra gets a good half hour today play our strongest side with a three man attack with
Wood, Barnes and Vydra
But won't happen

Presumably, you have also seen them promoted the same number of times.

Correct but we didn’t come out all guns blazing to get promoted.

Not sure relegation / promotion as got anything to do with thursday match. It's either win the match or out of Europa. Personally, I want them to go as far as possible so it has to be a win and for that all out attack!

it's an FA Cup tie with us starting 2 gols down. For me you go all out to prove the defeat over there was a one off and try to take the opposition apart - I'd be setting up to bury them not just beat them. We need to dominate them from the off while allowing / making sure the defenders to look after the counters by remaining switched on to the possibility ever second. On 70 minutes we push up the big lads and go Crazy gang circa 80's for the last 20 should it be needed.

It has to be a balance. If we concede, were out,
because we won't score three, particularly if we
go behind, cos they'll just take a striker off and
shut up shop.

We'll get the chances, and hopefully (of course), we'll take a few. But we must be good at the back.

For that reason, I'd play a full strength defence, at least.

If only it was that easy.

Let's get real. Guns blazing; bury them; Barnes Wood and Voles up front. We need to win 2 0 . I'd settle for that.

Keep it tight in the first half, but go in at least 0-0 at half time. 1-0 would be brilliant. Introduce Vydra in the second half and have more of a go, with him and maybe even 2 strikers.

Playing for safe 2 nil win is sure fire way to lose. Suspect we need to fire everything at their goal and accept they might also score. It’s been a long time since we scored 4 or 5....let’s do it again!

If we can keep a clean sheet we have 90 mins to score two goals. An early goal would be great but the key is not to panic like the Spurs cup game!

Well that's Plan A out of the window.
Vydra not named as one of subs today - we've decided to go with 5 defenders on the bench today....just in case.

This is whats annoying if Dyche was new to the camp playing this rotation business and the shoring up the midfield department that should have been a priority in the window, how do you think the fans would be reacting with what they have seen.
Their where signs of the lack of creativity appearing a good month before last season finished and nothing was done to rectify it
I do realise that its still early to condemn our forward thinking but the Machine is beginning to shake and it needs service before it brakes UTC

I think there's a good chance you will be disappointed if you attend. How often do we look like scoring 2 goals or more at home ? The defence looks anything but tight at the moment and I cannot see the Greeks not scoring.

We'd definitely bury them with Voles up front

Sean Dyche in the dugout in a short sleeved shirt looking like he means business.

"Suns out Guns Out" 8-)
