Dwight McNeil
Dwight McNeil
I’m surprised he’s not getting on the bench. Did we need 4 substitute defenders today? Surely has to be an option.
Re: Dwight McNeil
I’m surprised that nobody else has mentioned it
Re: Dwight McNeil
Just seen the other post. Soz.
Re: Dwight McNeil
Haha soz for the sarcasm
Re: Dwight McNeil
Surely he'll start on Thursday now? Even Agyei might be in with a shout. Just a shame Dunne and O'Neill are out on loan as I'd be playing them as well.

Re: Dwight McNeil
We need fresh legs and enthusiasm.Agyei could play wide right to replace Lennon and McNeil could go into midfield to replace Westwood. We need Barnes and Vokes start up front .Wardy at leftback with Taylor wide left.
Re: Dwight McNeil
No, I'd be playing him instead of Gibson in our 2nd string back 4. We need to prioritise the PL.wilks_bfc wrote:You’d be playing Dunne ahead of Mee, Tarks or Long?

Re: Dwight McNeil
McNeil and Agyei are young players. Young players don’t get a chance, always experienced pros first and foreever. Therefore McNeil and Agyei won’t play. Simple.

Every now and again a player bursts on the scene McNeill could be ours. Aygei isn’t.

“Every now and again” in our case being 10 years? It must be about that since Jay made his full league debut.piston broke wrote:Every now and again a player bursts on the scene McNeill could be ours. Aygei isn’t.

And before that Kyle Lafferty and Chris McCann.agreenwood wrote:“Every now and again” in our case being 10 years? It must be about that since Jay made his full league debut.
It’s fairly criminal that no one has been anywhere near progressing to be a regular in the first team from the youth setup since those three.
Re: Dwight McNeil
Even if we had an absolutely outstanding youngster on our hands don't think Dyche would give them a chance.

Re: Dwight McNeil
11 years since Jay Rod made his first team debut.
McCann, Lafferty and Chaplow before that in the last 20-30 years.
Unless someone states otherwise.

Re: Dwight McNeil
we've got sucked into the idea that going for the modern youth system model is gonna help us but it aint and the players coming through are proving that, there's no-one near the first team; the NZ kid, Aiden O'Neill, Agyei, the Shrewsbury lad who played at Bolton pre season Ginnelly was it, now McNeil; none of them will make it with us. Who will be the next ones to get a sniff when in reality they are nowhere near.
They may get a professional career and we'll get a few quid for future sales if they do move on but the modern system is all for top clubs to stockpile and sell on through because they've come through a top club system, ala Luke Chadwick!!
We do a loyal service to the football world in trying to give these lads a professional career but the gains for our first team are zilch, and will continue to be, I suspect.

Re: Dwight McNeil
Pre season I only caught us playing Curzon live.piston broke wrote:Every now and again a player bursts on the scene McNeill could be ours. Aygei isn’t.
Walters did alright against them but as soon as Agyei came on and started going down the wing it was a different game.
I get that Curzon are not at a level similar to anybody we are playing now but to see 2 players playing so differently against the same team and one really standing out was something. Walters looked pretty lost and like he was trying too hard - Agyei just had that fearless streak in him and they couldn’t handle him at all.
Walters got a chance in Europa ..... i’d feel fine with Agyei being told to go out and prove himself as I think he’d shock a few people.
Re: Dwight McNeil
It’s a completely different thing breaking into our team at this level in comparison to where we were when they came through the ranks.ClaretAndJew wrote:11 years since Jay Rod made his first team debut.

I dare say that if we were to still be at that level we may of seen 1 or 2 break into the first team

Re: Dwight McNeil
McNeil has already had a run out against Aberdeen while the tie was still in the balance this season, he's still only 18 but I think Dyche has given him a good few opportunities in and around the first team, to be fair to him. The reason not many young lads have had the chance while he's been here is that he's got us to a level which the majority of our young players simply aren't good enough to be at, but that side of the club all looks to be moving in the right direction to me.jrgbfc wrote:Even if we had an absolutely outstanding youngster on our hands don't think Dyche would give them a chance.

That post is about the youth system and has nothing to do with the current first team run. Why you would want to slash your wrists over it baffles me.Taffy on the wing wrote:Wait a second ...while i go and slash my wrists!....FFS 3 games in with a depleted squad!.... Unbelievable!

Re: Dwight McNeil
He had an excellent opportunity to show his worth v Bournemouth at the end of last season in a game where there was nothing at stake. I think he got about 2 minutes plus whatever was added on by the ref. I don't expect to see very much at all of him for the first team.

Don’t know if this has been posted before. A nice article and hopefully one who will make it in the first team.
Can’t see the harm in getting him on the bench while we are missing Defour, Brady and JBG.
