Out of contract players
Not usually one for signing out of contract players. But given the situation this must be appealing for burnley.
Sako
Yaya Toure
Veloso
Them three would significantly improve our situation.
Might have substantial wages but at least there is no fee.

Re: Out of contract players
Why ? We need to getting our yougsters in the first team to step up not recruit players who are looking for one last payday.
Re: Out of contract players
and would take an age to get them match fit

Re: Out of contract players
Two that spring to mind, though one in particular would be a massive gamble
Claudio Marchisio and Stephen Ireland
Ireland can at least play out wide, but he's had so little football in the past couple of years so he'd be the massive gamble.

Re: Out of contract players
Course, and I can't see Marchisio coming here at all.
Really annoying it has to be said, but last season the transfer window would still be open at this time.
No point moaning about it now like though, it is what it is.

Especially as we were one of the most vocal to have the transfer window shut so early too. How did they think it would help usLancasterclaret wrote:Course, and I can't see Marchisio coming here at all.

They will all be turning out for Burnley Under 23"s tomorrow against Crystal Palace but it's all hush! hush!
Remember you read it here first.

Re: Out of contract players
Would probably take till December to get them fit enough for us and to coach all the creativity out of them. Only joking of course.

Position we are in experience is what we need. A good strong midfielder like Toure should be just the ticket. Look what Barton did for us.Woodleyclaret wrote:Why ? We need to getting our yougsters in the first team to step up not recruit players who are looking for one last payday.

I'd be interested in Sako on a deal till the end of the season - he destroyed us last season

Re: Out of contract players
A player I hate, Claudio Yakob, is available I think.
He basically relegated us by crippling Dean Marney.
Not sure if he is still any good, fit, back in Argentina etc etc.

I'm pretty sure we've submitted a 27 man squad which includes 2 under-aged players, so we won't be adding anyone now.Granny WeatherWax wrote:There is literally zero chance we will sign an out of contract player.

Just keep wondering if the reason we keep playing the U23 behind closed doors is to try out a "few things"

Lowton Bardsley Long Tarkowski Mee Gibson Ward Taylor
Brady Defour JBG Westwood Cork Hendrick Lennon
Vydra Wood Walters Barnes Vokes
I imagine thats the squad? What happens if Walters leaves, can we fill that gap?
Re: Out of contract players
Why would we name Pope if he won't figure until January?

If that is indeed the squad as submitted then it's too late to bring anyone in.colne-claret wrote:Heaton, Pope, Lindegaard, Hart, Ledgzins

Marchisio if he passed a fitness test would be an absolute no brainer.

amazed marchisio hasn't got a club, although looks like he didn't play much last season.

Re: Out of contract players
Another, unlikely as it ever would be to see him play under Dyche would be Ben Arfa. He was outstanding for Nice but hasnt really done it at PSG.
We are desperate out wide and could do a whole lot worse. Like playing a left back there!

Re: Out of contract players
Here's a risk free very fast winger who might be "Dyche fit" by about 2019

Re: Out of contract players
I'd absolutely love to see Marchisio at Burnley but he's suffered from injuries so much. The fact that he's still not found a new club means there's something wrong (injuries and/or money).
