What's the odds on Brendan Flood being behind this?

Seems weird to only refurb after a licensee is found? Ah! Looks like another one of these blasted" pub management companies" that put an un-needed middle man between brewery and pub, artificially increasing prices and churning out one failed pub manager after another.

Wonder what their wholesale prices are that they will force the mug to buy from them at? Many have to buy a pint for what a freehouse can sell one for, and then they wonder why it doesn't work

It'll be another money pit in the making, packed on Matchday and devoid of life inbetween.

There are so many existing premises already in good order and boarded up. The Mix, Red Lion etc.

A barrel a day on average doesnt sound very much? Bet they would do far more than that when Burnley are at home.

Indeed. If you look at the VIP ticket and food packages Liverpool do based out of pubs by the ground, it really does beg the question why not? With the bonus of upstairs office space it seems a missed opportunity

It’s good news that something is being done with it but I’d have much rather it was bought by either the football club, Moorhouse’s or Bowland Brewery.

Didn’t the club say they’d looked into it but they didn’t feel it would make enough money outside match day?

For a paper that has to rely more and more on 'clicks' the LT website is absolutely shocking to use.

Another opportunity missed by the club?

If I had a spare few thousand I would buy it or then again I would only make a profit 20 days a year.

Hope something positive happens to the place. It is an eyesore in its present state.

I'm pretty sure Star Pubs is Heineken's pub management arm. Burnley fans should be able to get their pre-match Beavertown in there.

Seen a tweet criticising the club for not calling it the Jimmy Mac Tavern and for not honouring Jimmy Mac.

Forgive me but how does the club name something it doesn't own and the last time I looked there was a stand named in his honour.

Do some see any Clarets related new article and instantly think how the club has got it wrong??

Can only be a positive thing. Hopefully they get decent food on in there. Could be a little gold mine.

Times change. And its not viable for a pub like that to be open 7 days a week. It had no identity. You can have a beer at home for a fraction of the price. So there was no reason anyone would go in there. Even on matchday it was flogging a dead horse letting people drink their own cans there and a burger van selling food outside.

I heard a rumour that through a third party the club enquired about purchasing the Park View and the price was quite low. When the club started with direct enquires the price was multiplied to a figure which would make buying the pub and funding renovations totally unfeasible as a business venture. Also, i am led to believe that due to the contract with Bowland Brewery the club couldn't take the tenancy (which is still available) on the pub. I assume, Bowland must have something in the contract about being the sole supplier to the Club?

That can’t be right otherwise they would serve Bowlands in the stands and not the crap they currently do

If it would only make a profit on a match day/nite, then only open it on a match day/nite.

How do The Brickies, Turf and Royal Dyche do during the week? There’s obviously ‘Monday Club’ which sees them pretty busy I believe.

They struggle to run the standard club operations, like the shop and ticket office in an efficient manner, they'd have no chance with a pub.

I'm assuming that twit on Twitter doesn't visit TM often?
Or they don't sit in, or see, the Jimmy McIlroy stand?

Not from that area but the Prinny seems to be a well run, thriving little snoozer. Poker nights during the week etc, not sure how somewhere like the Brickies is still open to be honest, must be solely down to football trade it manages to hang on. If this new place is run properly it has a chance, think simple, decent quality affordable food would be a good idea.

If you want to run pub successfully these days the person in charge has to have many qualities as we know, thats very unlikely to happen if just a manager is going to be appointed in my opinion certainly in the long run.

Why do people get hung up on what the club owns? What’s it matter?

If the club owned the pub everyone in here will be on here moaning how **** and expensive the beer is anyway

I'll have a pint in the 30 match unbeaten club on the way to there from the Dyche (virtually of course, it's in Second Life.)

The club owning it is a terrible idea given that they don't even fully exploit the things they do have.

Plus, if the club would only be utilising it on matchdays, a big tent selling beer is cheaper.

Probably cheaper to own and open on match days rather than keep putting up and taking down a tent. Perhaps not as convivial, though.
