Huawei Mobile Phones

Post by Better Call Saul » Wed Aug 29, 2018 1:10 pm

I am in the process of looking for a new mobile phone and I've had Huawei recommended and in particular the Huawei P20 Lite.
As anyone out there got one and if so, is it one you would recommend. It comes with 64GB of internal storage as standard. I've also heard that it as a top grade camera as standard.

I've had a Huawei P20 now for a few months after ditching the iPhone. It's fantastic and have had no issues whatsoever. I certainly won't be going back to Apple anytime soon, the Android Operating system in both Huawei and Samsung I have for work are far more versatile than IOS

huawei phones have been made in conjunction with leica (they designed the lenses) so the cameras are ace.

I have the P20 Pro, as people suggest the camera is way better than an Iphone I changed from a 7plus and do not wish to go back at all.

I've just upgraded from a P9 to a P20 pro. My only gripe with the P9 was the battery life but that issue seems to have been well resolved now on the latest model.

I don't have a contract so try to go for the good mid range phones. 3 months ago went for the Honor 10 and for my range it has been miles better than anything ive had before.

You'll be going for something better but I would definitely recommend the Huawei as a brand of phone based on my experience

Maybe she was just unlucky but my wife had a Huawei phone which worked fine for 8 months then started freezing up periodically then gradually got worse to the point she had to keep restarting it.

She had it repaired (under warranty) and it was ok for a while after that but last month it started doing exact same thing again.

She's now ditched it (as warranty expired) and got an Alcatel V6 for just under £100 which has been great (so far)

Had a Huawei 2 years ago. Can't remember model maybe P8. It was fantastic until I lost it whilst travelling through Russia. had to buy an LG as a replacement but will go back to Huawei soon. They can only have got better and mine was good. As others say great camera too.

I have one, IMO not as good as Samsung Galaxy, and I wish I hadn't changed.

I've got the P20 and it's very good, and a bargain on contract. I'd recommend it over the over hyped big brands anyday.

I had a P9 which I really liked until it was stolen out of our car in Tenerife, I upgraded to my current phone the Mate 10 pro which I absolutely love, will be upgrading to the P20pro in a couple of months. Have not got a bad word to say about either phone, the cameras are fantastic, as someone else in conjunction with Leica. Go for it you won't regret it.

Huawei are very decent phones. Might laugh but I'd recommend a Nokia. I have the Nokia 8, their latest and it's powerful and versatile with a great camera. Nokia use 'stock' Android so it is much closer to a Google Pixel but at a cheaper price. Huawei, like Samsung, use their own 'skin' (icons and backgrounds). That isn't a big deal, just depends what you prefer. Oh and Nokia often get updates much earlier than other Android devices, like a Google phone.

I left Apple and decided to go sim only and buy a phone outright. I'd go back to iPhone if I found a decent deal. I don't really understand the Android/Apple debate. All good phones.

But yeah, Huawei are decent.

(Also, it's pronounced Wah-Way, if anyone's wondering.)

Thanks guys for all the replies to my original post.
You have help to make my mind up. I'm definitely going for a Huawei.
Special thanks also to Pickles (post 13). I'll now be able to pronounce the phones name.

I have an honor 10. I've dropped it 100s of times, thing seems indestructible.

I wouldn't say it syncs seamlessly all the time... Emails / texts seem to come in batches, but that might be a T-Mobile thing, not them

Got a p20 pro after recommendations on here about 6 weeks ago and it is awesome. I had iPhone 4,5,6,SE so it was a big deal I won't be going back to iPhone. Camera is fantastic (it has three) battery life great it lasts all day comfortably even with heavy use. It has 128 GB storage and 6gb ram which makes it fast. I don't know if it's the best out there but easily the best I have had.

My wife has the Honor 9 and I bought the Honor 10 recently. Very good phones for the price - really impressed with the camera on my phone, in particular.
