Kostas Fortounis

Post by Belgianclaret » Fri Aug 31, 2018 4:04 pm

Couldn't help but being impressed by him over the two legs.
Still only 25 years old, always available for the ball and a great passing range.
A player like him would be the perfect for our number 10 position.

Was going to post the same myself until I realised we would never pursue a player like this. Defour is the exception not the rule. He is a fantastic player and had a hand in every one of the 4 goals. Scoring 2 and assisting 2. His goalscoring record for a midfielder is phenomenal. Greek league or not.

Spurs were after him a few years ago and apparently has or had a 15m release clause.

He’s ranked no1 player in the Greek League on the transfer market site and is highly rated/regarded.

I would LOVE us to go in for him but can see other prem teams with more pulling power snagging him if the move was available.

As well as Fortoinis, I was extremely impressed with Daniel Podence at the turf, that little **** number 56 whose shirt was about 5 sizes to big for him.

Dropped into pockets of space between our defence and got into some real dangerous areas and topped his performance off with a goal

Pie in the sky? We may only be a 'smaller' club in England, but we must be within the 25 richest clubs in the world as a PL side.
I'm sure we could match the release clause and his wages, the only question is whether we could convince him over some eggs and bacon

We do know don’t we that Olympiacos were trying to dump Fortounis in the summer after a very bad season? Very dangerous to buy a player based on 2 games against a reserve defence. I thought he was lively but lightweight.

Dyche doesn't trust those nasty foreigners with their flair and inability to track back. We'll stick with the likes of Ashley Barnes thanks.
