Songs for the Depressed...

Post by ŽižkovClaret » Fri Aug 31, 2018 8:40 pm

Ok, songs to be clinically depressed to:
( i dont think i am but dear god ive had some days...).
To get us started:
Beak - Brean Down
Pearl Jam - Black
The Smiths - Sleep

I once watched the footage of the Bradford Stadium fire, then listened to "Black" and then spent the day in bed because i couldnt bring myself do much else.

"Brean Down" is a great tune, but my word does it sound like "music to decorate your Nuclear Bunker to"

And I have lived that kind of day
When one of your sorrows will go away
It goes down and down and hit the floor
Down and down and down some more
Depression
But I now there'll be some way
When I can swing everything back my way
Like skyscrapers rising up
Floor by floor, I'm not giving up

Go on YouTube and watch some jamming videos with BB King, Clapton, SRV etc all the blues greats.
Report back.

Heck the BB King and John Mayer jam is tremendous!

Carpet a nice cone with green fluffy buds & banish any blues.

It's the only song of hers that I like (and I think it's a gem) but: Ani DiFranco's "Grey" always struck me as good at describing a depressed condition

I get that this thread wasn't meant to be dead serious or owt and I'm sorry for being miserable and serious and everything, but the last thing anyone struggling with depression needs is their depression being romanticised. Honestly, being serious for a second, if you're legitimately depressed and reading this thread (and I only say this because folk have openly spoken of their suicidal thoughts on this forum in the past and it scares the $hit out of me), stop what you're doing right now, find an open floorspace, do as many push-ups and squats as your body will allow you, then come back to the thread and let us know how many you did.

With the amount of suicidal thoughts and I'm depressed and require attention threads on this board I'm going to say that this thread is going to beat all records and be the longest thread ever.

Finally "decided" to get help after trying to deal with low mood for oh.. The past 20 years.

Turns out my brain doesn't produce enough Serotonin, taking one pill (the smallest dose) has helped me to do those things that people always recommend (Like squats and PushUps - Mate, at my worst I couldn't even roll out of bed... exercise certainly helps you IF (and its a big if) you can do it). and I'm now on my way to building myself up to being a functioning human being again.

Anyway...

For anyone trying to understand whats its like, I give you "Megan Henwood - Apples"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bP9FoiQlQb4" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

For anyone trying to fight against it.... with the little dark humour that it takes. "Tom Rosenthal - There is a Dark Place"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sW0ljH4 ... V&index=40" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Good luck everyone.
