Not even close. At least they have something to brag about. Good range of good inventive songs too.
Re: Man utd fans
I’m with you - can’t f’in stand them. Used to work with many of them and so arrogant and dismissive of any other team or their fans. Man City fans were invariably far better to talk to about football - probably because most of them had seen their team scrape out of the first division not that long ago.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Am i the only one that dislikes these more than ******* fans? cannot generalise about fans and say they are bad, its a mixture of everything , like us.
Except Leeds, they are 100% bad, no exceptions.

To be fair the fans that will be here today will be the hardcore and mainly long term fans.
What is the issue with them being in the pubs singing songs, creating an atmosphere?
I would even extend that sentiment to Rovers fans too, shame we can't have football more like that.

Let's go with 99%. The 1% I think are the ones I'm friends with, or are part of the family.Wile E Coyote wrote:cannot generalise about fans and say they are bad, its a mixture of everything , like us.

In that order, purely down to many bad experiences whilst on lads holidays, boxing events and at football matches.

Anyone who says they don't mind United are probably closet reds who have switched since Burnley hit the Premier league and still are reds at heart.
Loads of ex United fans go on the turf and have season tickets.

I don't mind United. Yet never supported or particular liked them either. I think a lot of their fans are pathetic and can't take any of them seriously. But the club itself, I'm indifferent. United fans are still a long way behind Rovers though. Nothing comes close. Well, ok... Leeds, but that's about it.

Re: Man utd fans
I went to secondary school for 7 years in Salford and made good friends with lads that I still meet up with for a meal and a few drinks. Obviously they've enjoyed incredible success over the years but they are just as fickle as anyone else if things start going wrong. It's not the Burnley's of this world that they want to measure themselves by and that's why today's fixture for them isn't exactly the type they might be relishing. Anyway, friendships borne in the 1960's still live on for me and I'm glad they do.
Just to make it clear, my mates are all Salford lads and they have always made it clear to distinguish them from Manchester.

Re: Man utd fans
Leeds and Brighton are worse imho
Re: Man utd fans
There was a Man U 'fan' on TalkSport the other day. Think it was Bill Oddie from The Goodies. He used to support WBA where he was from and then Chelsea before Man U. This is fairly typical. I was at Old Trafford once when they were 3-0 down at half time with plenty of quality on the pitch. They left in droves swearing and flicking v s at their team. Can't say I'm keen.

Re: Man utd fans
After Man Utd’s defeat to Brighton one of their fans called up Sunday’s 606 and went on to explain to the presenters that the problem these days is that club’s like Man Utd can no longer compete with the promoted teams such as Wolves because of the TV money. I kid you not.
In terms of their fans in general, they’re not the worst in terms of arrogance (see Leeds United) but seem to be blinkered to anything outside of the top 4. They’re just not interested. I’ve never understood how one could get pleasure from supporting a team that is expected to win every game.

Re: Man utd fans
I actually feel a bit sorry for Man Utd fans - they can never have the same kind of experience that we have supporting Burnley.
Of course, we should take care to differentiate between Man Utd fans and "Manyoo fans".

Re: Man utd fans
Much as I dislike Man Utd as a club, their fans were absolutely top drawer today. Impeccably observed the Jimmy Mac minutes silence, backed their under-fire manager vociferously, and sang a range of songs unparalleled by any team in any league. Credit where credit's due.
