Excellent news this morning...
That annoying two-hat, and spouter of all things shite, has this morning announced his retirement from the radio 2 breakfast show.
Means I can listen again, unless of course they replace the egotistical “me, me, me” pr1ck with another one.
Mark goodier or Richard allinson for me please. I like to “come to” for a while in the morning, not be force fed zoo radio. Zoe ball maybe, although she is a little busy around the gob area...(yeah, I know dj’s have to talk, but not complete shite all the time like Evans) Sara cox? Yeah, she’s quite good.
Definitely NOT fearne cotton.
Who gets your vote to replace the charisma bypass?

Any chance that DJ silly boy, Steve Wright could go too? Two weeks of quality with Craig Charles and then back to the dross of Wright. He was turned off at 2:14pm on Monday and 2.04pm on Friday. The radio had already been switched over during the news Tues - Wed.
Sara Cox must be in with a chance. Covered plenty of times and would help bridge the inequality gap.

I don’t mind Evans, although I usually only catch the last 40 minutes or so. His Friday shows are often good listening depending on the guests.
In full agreement with Wright though. How he continues in that slot is beyond me, churning out the same rubbish for over 20 years on radio 2 alone. My radio gets switched to either Radio 4 or after after a previous recommendation on here, radio 6 music at 2pm.
I think Sara Cox might get a go at the breakfast show and I can tolerate her

Thank God Evans has gone.
- cannot stand the bloke... it’s always about him.
Sara Cox would be fine.
Zoe Ball less so.. ( too excitable)
I like that Johnny Walker idea but not going to happen.
Both Craig Charles and Trevor Nelson do excellent weekly programmes ( with top specialist music).
They could both do with more exposure.

The only DJ's I would listen to on R2 are Johnnie Walker and Tony Blackburn's 60's show. Exception being Ken Bruce's Pop Master. Have to agree Steve Wright is the most irritating DJ I have ever had the displeasure to have listened to.

Boris Johnson has finally admitted that Brexit will be disastrous for Britain.
Since the Theresa May plan is the only one on the table Boris is now obviously a Remainer.

Re: Excellent news this morning...
Glad to see the back of Evans for may of the reasons already stated. One of the most irritating aspects is that despite having a 3 hour show 5 times a week to talk about himself, his family, his lifestyle, his cars, his house, his friends, his interests and all things about himself, on the rare occasion he plays a half decent song, he is of the belief that rather than enjoying the song, his listeners would much rather listen to him finishing his anecdote on how he bought a new pair of trainers to go jogging in etc. As for replacement, please not Sara Cox. Cannot stand listening to the Bolton bore and her dreadful accent.

I only have FM radio in the car (plus CD ) and until I get half way to work I cannot pick up Absolute Radio, which has a far better choice of music. The other options are BBC Local or Heart (which I wouldn't listen to if the alternative was fingers being scraped down a blackboard). As soon as I can get reception, I turn Evans off.iluva64 wrote:Always have the ON/Off button but opted Deezer instead.

When he quit Radio 1 breakfast show didn't they replace him with a woman then?
It didn't end well if I remember, both of the aforementioned women/ladettes failed on the R1 breakfast show
It took Moyles to repair the damage.

Re: Excellent news this morning...
The best combo of presenters I have ever listened to was Peter Allen and Asmah Mir (sp?) on Radio 5/5 live`s `Drive`. Well-informed, funny and charming. I don`t mind Stephen Nolan either. Evans is a clown and indicative of the modern day tv/radio host - up their own ar*e. There will be never be another Terry Wogan.
Re: Excellent news this morning...
Interesting that all the ones who don't like Chris Evans come on this board to slag him off, the ones who like him don't (apart from me) incidentally, those who claim all he does is talk about himself, family, cars, friends etc, how do you know that if you supposedly don't listen to him

Never understood what people dislike so much about Chris Evans.
I’m not a huge fan, but the hatred of him seems a little harsh.

don't mind Evans at all. Steve Wright? used to like him [in the 80's] but, as has been said, he's still churning out the same old crap. in fact, I hardly listen to BBC 2 nowadays; it seems to pander to the housewife too as evidenced by his 'listener's choice' slot at 15:00 where around 4 out of every 5 shows 'randomly' selects a choice of music from a female listener.

Maybe I used to listen to him until I got sick of it. I have also said that I can't get my favoured radio station until I am half way to work.beddie wrote:Interesting that all the ones who don't like Chris Evans come on this board to slag him off, the ones who like him don't (apart from me) incidentally, those who claim all he does is talk about himself, family, cars, friends etc, how do you know that if you supposedly don't listen to him
Never said I hated the guy. I just tire of me me me and him ruining songs. I went to Car Fest in the summer, hosted by him and he was fine. Talked a bit then let the bands play. And it raises money for Children in Need.

At least Evans would throw in a few decent tunes in a morning (ACDC, 'tallica, and the like) rather than the dour soul-less sh1te that is flung out to the masses on Radio 1 every second

His ratings at the end just before he left dropped a lot, but overall his show was one of the most listened to Breakfast radio shows in the UK.

There was an article recently that radio 2 daytime was solely white men presenters, hence the shoehorning of Jo Wiley onto the drive time slot. So I suspect that it’ll be either a woman, or a black person, regardless of talent. Ken Bruce is now deputised by Trevor Nelson who plays completely different music when on.

Sara Cox deserves a go, it's always been good when she's been on for a couple of weeks to replace Chris Evans and his team of sycophants and endless streams of celebrities selling something and then clambering in and out of each others' backsides.
Sean Keveney on 6 music is different class. Genuinely funny and a great antidote to Evans' hysterical shouting about nothing.

I like R&M’s show so a shame to see that go. But I only tend to catch the back end of Keaveney’s show so happy for him to be moved into the afternoon. I’m into electronic music so happy to see Mary Anne Hobbs get a decent slot - there’s too much crying on Laverne’s show.Transpennine wrote:Thanks. Mary Anne Hobbs plays a decent selection of stuff on her weekend breakfast shows but surely has one of the most annoying voices on radio. I'm another one sorry to see R&M go but Keaveny is a top man. I'm an early riser and Chris Hawkins, who is on 6Music from 5 to 7am, is great listen.
