Re: Defour
i'm predicting this - after failing to identify/cure his medical problems we will cancel his contract and pay him off. he'll go to another club where a miraculous recovery from injury will take place. he will sign for Brighton and they will sell him to a 'big' club for £30 million and he'll go on to play for many more years.
Re: Defour
What if there is no one to replace her, you'd expect an update then.deanothedino wrote:No, she's your favourite. She's totally irreplaceable. Nobody can carry your scones and tea like she can. You demand that they tell you when she will return.
You're sick of hearing she's touch and go, or she's back on the lino. You want to know when she's back, you're a paying customer after all!
"Sorry but the tea lady's gone, we don't know when she will return so we will punt the tea across the room for a bit". Sums us up that

That is sort of what I thought. And then if the journo gets the usual stock answer he should ask for a bit more detail. Whether he will get it or not is a different matter. But no harm in asking.ralphc wrote:Maybe if the so called local journalists had the balls to ask a proper direct question of the manager he might just give us an answer about his injury.
Re: Defour
I find both the Brady and Defour scenario strange in different ways. Before the first Olympiakos game Brady himself thought he'd return (or be in contention) for a spot in the team for the following week. It seems he has been pushed back again and yet there doesn't seem to have been anything communicated (unless I missed it).
Similar with Defour, the injury always seems to be played down initially and then they spend months out.
Whilst the club don't "need" to tell us anything: They were quick to tell us, in the run up to the window shutting, how close to fitness they were. Perhaps they don't want to say anything because the truth makes our window look worse.

If you had read the thread you would know exactly how many games he has played 90 minutes and also how many he has played more than 73 minutes but less than 90.Stayingup wrote:Several? I think not many full 90 minutes. Probably about 10. I would like to know actually.

Re: Defour
Even if Defour was fit/returning to fitness in the summer and unexpectedly suffered a setback in pre-season we were still short of a CM - the club were pursuing Clucas, obviously not like-for-like but another CM option. As it stands all three of our senior CMs are seeing lots of football and already look a little jaded (Cork), sometimes not played in their best position (Hendrick) or cannot be dropped even if their form dips on occasion (Westwood). We got away with a similar gamble at centre back last season but it's difficult to understand how it's deemed acceptable to enter into this level of brinkmanship all over again.
You would have hoped lessons had been learned after the nosedive that followed Dean Marney's injury v West Brom in the last relegation season.

Your money isn't even paying Defour, Sky Sports and global TV rights are. Maybe Sky Sports should be banging on the door asking when Defour will be back in the team.

I thought Brady got a minor hamstring against Montpellier and Defour had a couple of setbacks in his calf just as he was ramping it up again?
If I recall correctly Dyche has said as much, I don’t think anyone is hiding anything. We are after all only 23 days into the Premier League season.

Defour and Brady have both had serious injuries. They will recover given time, treatment and hard work. They will return. They will play for Burnley and be back to their footballing peak again.

Let’s hope he is back fairly soon and then stays fit / avoids injury for the rest of the season. What a boost that would be.

Were that the case. Any serious injury can alter the future performances of players and so only time will tell how good both will be for Burnley and the same applies to Heaton and PopeIm_not_Robbie_Blake wrote:Defour and Brady have both had serious injuries. Re: Defour
Why not? If someone has chopped significant body parts off him and sent said bits to Belgium he could be said to be in both places at once, depending which parts have been chopped this may realistically leave him permanently injured and should the chopping have been done by someone within the club; then D4 might not unreasonably refuse to play for us anymore. OK, I'll accept this scenario's not likely, but if fourteen months ago someone'd posted that we'd finish seventh and qualify for Europe, that statement might've been questioned too.dsr wrote:So if this thread is accurate, Defour is:
1. In Belgium;
2. At Turf Moor:
3. Permanently injured;
4. Refusing to play.
Obviously the above can't all be true. Do we have to pick which one we believe before slagging off the club, or can we just slag off the club without bothering to give a reason?

Heard off a good sauce (HP) That they are aiming to have D4 and Brady involved in the first team at Burton.
Re: Defour
A few weeks back SD said that Brady was a close but kept getting tweeks (which is normal after such a long lay off and that Defour is little further away.
