No we can slag off the Board for the shambolic window, obviously you won’t .dsr wrote:So if this thread is accurate, Defour is:
1. In Belgium;
2. At Turf Moor:
3. Permanently injured;
4. Refusing to play.
Obviously the above can't all be true. Do we have to pick which one we believe before slagging off the club, or can we just slag off the club without bothering to give a reason?

He has played full 90 minutes in 13 matches, came off after 73 minutes or later in 14 matches and earlier in 13 matches for whatever reason, although I know that 3 of these were from injuries sustained duringthe matches.

Okay, your favourite tea lady in your favourite cafe is ill. Do you expect updates on her return? You're a paying customer after all.houseboy wrote:Bad analogy mate. You get paid to go to work but you pay money to watch your team. The well being of a work colleague is private but the fitness or otherwise of a player who you pay, amongst others, to play for your team is a little more public. The main problem I have always had with the club I love is the damn secrecy in ALL things, even the usual 'undisclosed fee' for transfers. As far as our players go I get a little bored with 'touch and go', 'we'll have to wait and see' and the other classic 'he's back on grass' (does that mean that's what he's eating or that he has returned to his old drug taking ways?). Working for Burnley FC must be like working for MI5. Employees must have to sign a BFCSC form when they start (Burnley Football Club Secrecy Contract).
Come on Steven, Burnley FC needs you, get your boots on and get us climbing the league, you know it makes sense.

Re: Defour
You don't pay the club for information, you pay to go and watch a game of football and nobody forces you to pay out to do that, it is your choice.
Other than that, the club are under no obligation to tell you anything except to publish their accounts eacn year which they have to do by law.
SD has said in numerous occasions that he does not put any pressure on injured players to return to playing because he trusts them to be the best judge. It is strange how many fans know when a player should be playing again, even though the player himself doesn't know.

I think the last SD said about Defour (around 2 weeks/10 days ago) was after saying Brady was "getting there" Defour was "further back". Be great if we could have him back in 6 weeks but utterly impossible to know whats going. to believe people on here he could be doing any of the following
1. Wenching in Antibes
2.Sat in a Brugge cafe eating waffles and while smoking gauloises and raising a sexy eyebrow at female passers by
3. Buying his usual "meatball marinara" in Subway while telling all and sundry "i'll be back soon" (for another sandwich?)
4.Leading the singing in the JHU while running errands,buying brews,sewing buttons on etc for Duffer
5. Working as a gondoilier in Venice

Defour’s health is nobody else’s business. If he or the club don’t want to make the details public then they are not obliged to. Releasing details of the injury could reduce the player’s value to the club and negatively effect the player’s future earnings.

The constant shroud of mystery around certain things (ticket allocations, injuries, transfers) is IMO poor. Do we need to know everything about everything? No. But I dont understand the big secret around everything!

Less than 1/3 of them he has finished 90 minutes.
The truth is we probably wouldn't have got him if he was fitter.
The reality is we are miles ahead of where we were when we signed him and should have another player of his caliber in by now.
Our lineup on his debut vs yesterday
Heaton, Lowton, Keane, Mee, Ward, Boyd, Marney, Defour, Arfield, Gray, Vokes
Hart, Bardsley, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor, Lennon, Westwood, Cork, Hendrick, Wood
Have we improved significantly in that time? Debateable.

Usual crap when we are going through a rough patch, why not the same questions about Brady? Dyche has said on at least 2 occasions that he is a couple of weeks behind Brady & it’s an issue just behind the knee which he tweaked getting over his calf & something that is common after the sort of injury he has had. Doubt he would say that on Clarets tv if it was not true.

Re: Defour
Fact is if Defour wasn't terribly injury prone and perhaps delicate he would have cost much more than 8 million and would be playing at a bigger club. Another fact is the club should have got in two midfield players in the summer.

Re: Defour
The simple solution would be that the fans are provided with a rough timeframe for his return. It doesn’t need to be the intricate details of what the issue is. It’s not exactly an unusual thing for clubs to put into the public domain.
If it is a long term issue, and it’s starting to look that way, it begs the question, how long have we know this? If the answer is any date before the deadline, it’s baffling that another midfielder wasn’t brought in.
We’ve 3 central midfielders and we play 3 pretty much every game. Even if we didn’t, 4-4-2 or Vydra starting to free up Hendrick, it’s massively lightweight having 3 midfielders for two such key positions.
Our last two relegations from this division were as a result of having insufficient midfield cover.
