Re: Sterling cries off England duty again
When has he done it before? Genuine question. I can't remember him being one to duck out alot he always seems to be in the team.
Fantastic player. Wish we had someone with half his ability. Pace, goals and assists in abundance. Hopefully he starts being as successful for England as he is for City.

Re: Sterling cries off England duty again
The sheer hatred some people have for Sterling is utterly bizarre.
Re: Sterling cries off England duty again
He always comes across as a decent lad when interviewed. This animosity towards him dates back years - certainly from his early days at Liverpool where there were bizarre rumours of him having numerous children (untrue).
I don’t remember him missing too many England games.

I wonder whether a white player would attract the same unwarranted animosity...?

Re: Sterling cries off England duty again
Problem with this debate now in the media is that it’s made out people think he is absolutely brilliant or absolutely terrible.
Most people are probably in the middle thinking he’s a player who does well for City but can’t replicate it for England for whatever reason.
It’s what happens with any scapegoat or even perceived scapegoat. As we’ve seen ourselves over the years.

23 year old and almost 50 England caps. Cant recall him ever crying off and the caps back that up!
Compare that with Jamie Vardy. Who always seems a bad apple to me and retires when in his pomp.
Give me Sterling any day.

Wayne Rooney. John Terry. No one has had it as bad as Beckham did after France 98. Not everyone is racist.Exeterclaret wrote:I wonder whether a white player would attract the same unwarranted animosity...?
