Utd fan in JM lower, Sunday
I'm assuming that he was a United fan. I looked across and saw a bit of a commotion more or less behind the goals about 3/4 of the way up just after they scored their first goal.
Again, I'm assuming he had been giving it large and, when I noticed it, he was getting a bit of a pasting from 2 blokes behind him. The steward managed to drag him away and down into the concourse. No action seemed to be taken against the guys handing out the pasting.
Anyone know exactly what went on ?

Re: Utd fan in JM lower, Sunday
I did chuckle at the three united fans giving it the big one in the cricket club car park.
You can't get out of there in a hurry, so they may have regretted giving it to pretty much 80% of the home support

Didn't it happen at Blackburn.... With a Manu fan? Bit of uproar on here I recall. I'm not a fan of lynching personally.Funkydrummer wrote:That fits the description of what I saw, with a silly grin on his face that was soon wiped off.

Re: Utd fan in JM lower, Sunday
It was the same last season against United.
If they are stupid enough to sit in the home end (in a f’in Burberry shirt) and then even more stupid to celebrate the goal they deserve to be lynched. He should have been tarred, feathered and then made to eat one of our crap pies !
In al seriousness why was he not arrested and banned ?

Re: Utd fan in JM lower, Sunday
It's a shame some folk just can't hack seeing someone celebrate (a goal for the opposition for example) when it's an emotion not shared. Isn't it about time that we all grow up and just, how do you say, suck it up, or even grow a pair of balls.
Reacting in an infantile manner with aggression (verbal or physical) is just pathetic in my view.

Re: Utd fan in JM lower, Sunday
I left about 10 minutes before the end to avoid the traffic and get to Noel Gallagher at Bingley.
Must of been 30 blokes come out of the home ends (in small groups) that were United fans.
I don't see the problem with it though. We can't sell out our ground and if we do it's to new Burnley fans that were United fans 5 years ago anyway.

Re: Utd fan in JM lower, Sunday
It's pathetic. I've seen Nelson v Colne with the supporters mixing at both football and cricket, I've seen Accrington Stanley v. just about anyone, I've seen Green Bay Packers v. Chicago Bears, Keighley Cougars, v. Bradford Bulls, Blackburn Hawks v. anyone, Milwaukee Brewers v. anyone including both Chicago clubs, and none of these events had any segregation.
Why are some Burnley FC fans so pathetic that they can't see someone celebrating his team doing well without getting violent?

Re: Utd fan in JM lower, Sunday
I have been in the home section when we have been away. To be honest if I had given it the big one in their end I would have accepted the consequences and not bleeted about it. Maybe the utd fans that did this did it for the buzz and werent particularly bothered about a bit of handbags.
They know they shouldnt be in there so thats their choice. Could you imagine standing in stretford end giving it the big one. Personally I think the big 6 clubs fans have an attitude about them and that is what winds up burnley fans more than anything.

I thought football had moved on in England, obviously not.
Glad them same fans didn't go down to Fulham and have to share bar queues and toilets with opposition fans, Burnley's name would of been dragged through the mud again.

Re: Utd fan in JM lower, Sunday
This can't be 1 of the same mob who numerous posters have stated the fans were well behaved on Sunday & butter wouldn't melt can it! If arranging a plane to coincide with a minutes silence (noise apparent during) gesturing 2 fingered salutes whilst & now fighting if that's well behaved, I shudder to think of what constitutes bad behaviour indeed.
Re: Utd fan in JM lower, Sunday
Exactly my point. Even a complete tosser doesn't (generally) get beaten up. (Though there are certain parts of Cleveland's stadium, and especially of Philadelphia's stadium, that wouldn't take it so calmly.)nyclaret wrote:What about this Baltimore Ravens fan at a Cleveland Browns game?!

Ive been in the home end at stoke with my father in law when we won one nil. I gave an involuntary shout of get in! when we scored then sat down again. I got glared at for a bit but there was no trouble.
No need for it, it’s a game of football for God’s sake!!

Re: Utd fan in JM lower, Sunday
Personally I don't see a problem with the odd lynching, especially if it's a UTD fan!
Yes, it's just a game of football and yes there are more important things in life and yes we're all footy fans at the end of the day whoever we follow, but whatever else it is it's very, very tribal (and surely that's a massive part of the appeal) and seeing other fans celebrate a goal or a win in their own seats is pretty hard to take, but is actually all part of the game. Having them sit right next to you, rubbing those celebrations in your face is simply bound to rile people and the thing is they know it!!!

Re: Utd fan in JM lower, Sunday
I saw the incident on Sunday.
The bloke kinda asked for it really, jumping up when they scored chanting "United, United, United" he an was old-school thug.
Unfortunately for him there were a few Burnley old-school thugs within punching distance.
It was pretty funny, you always get this Man Utd, the sheer arrogance of some of their fans!
I'd say most of us have found ourselves at some point mixed in with opposition fans, what happens next is pretty much down to your behaviour. I limit myself to an inner smirk if we score.
The British game still remains a bit tribal.......which on the whole is a good thing.

But in all seriousness, I agree, it's been refreshing to see no sniping, and whilst club form and opinions are quite tense.
Can't wait until we win 3 on the spin, it will be a love in on here.

Everything above board

You can be legal and still steal. If you run off with your brother's fiance, you have stolen her - nothing illegal, but that doesn't mean it's right.CharlieinNewMexico wrote:Didn't steal it

Baltimore fans will say that it was all right because the Colts were stolen from them by Indianapolis. In that case, they loaded up the moving vans in the middle of the night. That WAS highway robbery.

When the Ravens moved into Baltimore, the only successful American CFL franchise, the Stallions, moved to Montreal, where they resurrected the Alouettes. There's still a Stallions fan club, however.
