Any news on when we will have allocation, availability and pricing?

Should hear imminently I would have thought. Usual away allocation is about 1500 on the terrace and a couple of hundred seats.

Would be nice to have a good cup run. I'm fairly sick of us just treating them as nothing games.

Aston Villa’s recent allocation was 1,681, so I assume that’s what we’ll receive.

I think we will have to wait until the date is confirmed and that can't be done until the FL & Sky agree on which games will be televised.

...and if any of you get there early you could do worse than book a brewery tour round the Marston's brewery. Fantastic old Victorian brewery with a fairly unique brewing (well, technically, fermenting) process. https://www.marstonsbrewery.co.uk/visit/book-a-tour/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(Sorry, if I sound like a tour rep - I used to work at that brewery, though, and get quite sentimental about it......)

I actually rang up Burtons ticket office yesterday and the womans exact reply, when I asked if it was indeed the 25th, was "nothing confirmed at our end."ClaretTony wrote:I think we will have to wait until the date is confirmed and that can't be done until the FL & Sky agree on which games will be televised.
So as you say, Tony, seems its still up in the air, datewise.

I was told that it would be Tuesday if not on TV which is likely given that it's the day they play their midweek games.ElectroClaret wrote:I actually rang up Burtons ticket office yesterday and the womans exact reply, when I asked if it was indeed the 25th, was "nothing confirmed at our end."

Must not be expecting much of a crowd if they are closing a stand.
Just waiting for details of the allocation before the "we could have sold double that" and "why have the club only taken a small allocation" posts from folk who have no intention of going.

Premier league Burnley not whetting the appetite of the public of Division One Burton. Whatever happened to 'up for the cup' or 'cup fever'? Just a necessary interruption to their endeavours to return to the Championship. Wouldn't expect any stand to be closed if we meet them again on an even footing next season.NL Claret wrote:Must not be expecting much of a crowd if they are closing a stand.

Re: Any news on Burton tickets?
Just under 7k capacity and closing the West stand behind the goal. Maybe we have underestimated just how small Burton are in terms of a club?
We will be in the East stand with seating available in the South stand.
If this was the early 90s we would of got the West stand as well to increase our allocation. We will sell out of course with it being our first visit and only two hours away but Dyche's contempt for cup competitions won't see a huge following.

Why would they turn up to watch Burnley reserves because that is what will happen. The only way I would go is if Dyche announces his team beforehand and it is the regular first team - but that won't happen will it?Silkyskills1 wrote:Premier league Burnley not whetting the appetite of the public of Division One Burton. It is a pity because it is a trophy that, as a PL club, we could win, unlike the PL itself.

Remember going to Forest in the early 90s for a 2 legged cup game and we had a big following - got stuffed 4-1 - Pearce finished David "Hammer" Hamilton's career and Dave Elleray had a shocker. Shouldn't be a problem getting a ticket and tick another ground off.
What sort of reception will Marvellous Marvin Sordell get? I think most of the stick he got was in writing

Think some Burton fans are giving it a miss due to us blowing a huge chance to become one of the top sides in Europe by not playing a further 6 games in the Europa League

We turned up to watch Arsenal reserves in the 2008/09 season and patted ourselves on the back after beating them too. It is a pity,as you say, but underlines how the once lure of cup glory is something from the dim and distant past.houseboy wrote:Why would they turn up to watch Burnley reserves because that is what will happen. Re: Any news on Burton tickets?
I have had a premonition that we will win the cup and therefore automatically qualify for next years Europa League Group Stage, we have some unfinished business. After we beat Burton only 4 more games to win. The team we will select will already have had plenty of cup experience this season, unlike previous seasons.

Brainwashed by the media. Clubs chase the money and there is none in winning a cup compared to the premier league.Silkyskills1 wrote:We turned up to watch Arsenal reserves in the 2008/09 season and patted ourselves on the back after beating them too. Sad for the entertainment of fans but the media will always win.

And yet the games chosen for TV audiences will presumably be based on the possibility of a cup shock.

Re: Any news on Burton tickets?
Too true. Here is a classic example, I don't know how old you are or if you could remember it but back in the early 70's we played Wolves at home in the FA Cup. When we got there we couldn't get in the Longside as it was full (literally) of Wolves fans who got there early (a magnificent site on reflection with all the gold and black). If you bear in mind the Longside held about 20k or so that was some away following. We won 3-0 and marched on. The following week we played them at home again in the league (old 1st division as per the PL now) and they brought a couple of thousand tops (probably less). We actually lost that one 1-3 I think it was. How times have changed. That would never happen now would it? FA Cup 3rd round day was always the first game of the new year pretty much and was eagerly awaited by all who were involved, now it comes and goes and hardly anyone notices. I remember crying on the coach steps after the semi defeat by Newcastle in '74 and thinking how near we were to the final at Wembley. Would the FA Cup have that effect now?Silkyskills1 wrote:We turned up to watch Arsenal reserves in the 2008/09 season and patted ourselves on the back after beating them too. Re: Any news on Burton tickets?
Yes, I went to those games. Just checked the attendances and there were 19,000+ for the cup tie and 13,000 + for the league game but I take your point. A lot of reference in the past on here to the 6th round cup tie v Blackburn in 1960 with around 51,000 on yet we played them in the league the week before again at Turf Moor and there were 32,000 on. The replay at Ewood Park saw 56,000 on four days after the draw at our place. I went to both home games but wasn't allowed to go to the replay.

why does it matter? if youre going to have a loyalty system then use it properly. Its like the 50 points for the Europa league game at home, ridiculous.

Re: Any news on Burton tickets?
They offer incentives to things that help them.
The 50 point bonus was to encourage fans to buy their own seat and get it downloaded to the ST card rather than print a separate ticket and have staff waiting to dish tickets out before the game.
Having two tickets per clarets number might encourage sales as they can sit next to their mate instead of strangers. Not that much of a bonus with terracing though.

so nothing to do with a proper loyalty system then then rewards loyal fans for scare away tickets. i got 30 points for going to aberdeen istanbul and athens, yet people got 50 points for going to the home leg. its ridiculous. they should scrap the whole thing and start again.

It all depends on how you define loyalty, and every fan has their own definition. Unfortunately for many on UTC the clubs definition of loyalty is the "Customers who give Burnley FC the most money", rather than "Those that spend the most on petrol, flights, hotels and give other clubs their money to watch Burnley play in their stadium".

Which seems fair enough in my opinion. It is in the club’s best interests to get as many fans inside Turf Moor as possible. It makes little difference to the club how many fans travel to Athens or Istanbul to support us.claret wizard wrote:It all depends on how you define loyalty, and every fan has their own definition. I’m not sure how club’s like Man Utd do it, but then again they don’t seem to have much problem filling their stadium so it’s not a very good comparison. If you wanted to support a proper club you’d be more than welcome though.Granny WeatherWax wrote:do they? check how proper clubs do it like Man United do it.

That is how Utd do it, your name goes in a hat, not really sure why the complaints about Burton the tickets will make general sale and like almost another other Burnley game if someone wants a ticket you can get one. Even the Southampton allocation was moaned at due to being nowhere near enough, never got near selling out.

Re: Any news on Burton tickets?
As Utd sell every ticket for every home game (season ticket holders are forced to buy a home ticket by direct debit for every game in addition to the league games, including every European game, imagine that would go down well at Burnley) their loyalty scheme has different ends to ours. Ours has to try and maximise the revenue to the club, so by rewarding behaviour that puts money into the clubs coffers to the priority. 50 points for buying a ticket before the outcome of the first leg being a prime example.

Do you think they will reach general sale?

My point is is what is the point in running a loyalty system which will only ever be used for over subscribed away games that doesn’t reward more loyalty points for people who go away. It’s nonsense.

Re: Any news on Burton tickets?
You are awarded more loyalty points for going to away games though. The 50 points for Olympiakos was a one-off and was clearly the club trying to cash in on extra ticket sales for a game they were concerned could be poorly attended. If you attend home and away games then surely you wouldn’t have an issue having the required loyalty points?Granny WeatherWax wrote:My point is is what is the point in running a loyalty system which will only ever be used for over subscribed away games that doesn’t reward more loyalty points for people who go away.
