Rachel Bland RIP

Post by tiger76 » Wed Sep 05, 2018 12:02 pm

Sad to report the BBC presenter has lost her battle with breast cancer, she at least was able to achieve reducing the stigma about this horrible illness. :cry:https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-45410652

:( Only 40 years old too and missed her son's 3rd birthday by a matter of days.

Life is just so unfair sometimes. Too many lifes are taken away too soon. Thoughts with her family and friends at this time and the same toall families suffering a loss. RIP

Its terrible news.
As the link mentions, she was alongside Tony Livesey
for a lot of her presenting, they just seemed to click together.

RIP.

Must be very surreal tweeting on the Monday, knowing your going to pass away in the coming days.

Very upsetting story unraveled over the past few days - a fantastic broadcaster and had a great rapport with Tony Livesey on air.

Always thought TL made the step up from Radio Lancs with impressive comfort, but a part of that was working with some excellent female co presenters. She certainly came across as a very genuine character and naturally professional presenter.

I haven't listened to her Big C and Me podcasts but she certainly seems to have inspired a lot of people through them.

What a sad loss and at such a young age, RIP Rachael :( and thoughts for those she's left behind

Devastating news.

Also for anyone reading this thread that in anyway shape or form had a connection with Engineering @ Burnley College, my old Lecturer John Purdy died yesterday morning after a year and half battle with Cancer.

He was a top, top bloke and helped reignite some passion in my body for learning, after going back to college as an older student... He will be sorely missed as well.
