Did some adding up last night and with 2019 prices I got £7800 with all tickets and Rosen Inn on International Drive. That package was with Virgin. With Thomas Cook it was cheaper at £7200.Inchy wrote:I am thinking of going in about 6 years when my son with be 8 and my next child (due next month) will be six.
Although I have a long time to save I don’t want to be spending 10 grand upfront on a holiday. 10k including all spends would be alright.
Me and my wife are both nurses and unless the 4p an hour pay rise I just got increases rapidly it’s going to be difficult to justify spending so much. Having said that I’ve just increased my mortgage payments so there is an option to drop them nearer the time.
Back of a fag packet maths, but does anyone know the estimate as to what it would cost for 2 adults 2 children to go for 2 weeks with passes, both on and off site?

Re: Disney world Florida
We stayed at one of the many Rosen Inn on I-drive. It was not a bad base, guessing totally different to a villa or onsite accommodation but walking distance to lots of restaurants/bars/couple of activities. Acceptable breakfast, good Japanese restaurant on site and small pool which we didn’t use as we were at parks from breakfast until closing.
Free buses to Universal, main line buses/coach to other parks. Disney 17dollars in an Uber, return coaches also available to Disney from the hotel.
I booked some flights recently to Florida and there are deals available. Saying that everyone I’ve spoke to has enjoyed the Disney packages with children.
Get it done Inchy, I understand my mother could never have taken us to Disney but if you can, the whole family will absolutely love it.

We're looking at going next May/June for 11 days, only doing universal as we have 2 boys, £2500 to stop near international drive and £1100 for the 3 universal parks, just spending money on top.

Haven`t been in 20 years but still AMAZING memories. What a place!!!! Busch Gardens, Universal Studios, the water theme parks and the night time show at Magic Kingdom (made me cry with happiness - 21 at the time) were for me, the highlights. Can recall we rented a car and stayed in Kissimmee which was ideal.
I can`t wait to take my kids when they are old enough (7 or 8 at the earliest).
ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I drove from the EAst coast to the West Coast back in 1999 with 3 mates for less than 100 quid each - there was a superb gig called DRIVEAWAY back then...incredible! Not sure (doubt it) if it still exists.thatdberight wrote:Did you do that - that's a hell of a road trip?

Re: Disney world Florida
FCBurnley lives in the Orlando area. FAO him if you want the straight dope. Speaking of dope, Florida is the drug consumption capital of the world. On one trip, my friend and I were laying on the beach, when a girl started getting friendly with us. Things progressed to a certain point, until the hammer came down. "Ya got any 'ludes, man?" "''ludes? Er, what's that?" "Qualudes. Ya not with it?" Evidently, qualudes were the "in" drug of the time. Having never smoked even a joint in our lives, she was out of luck, and moved on. I've never had a menage a trois, but the opportunity was certainly there that day. On another trip, this time with my rugby club, one of our players had already arranged his marijuana connection before he got on the plane. We had to stop at a certain house in Orlando in order to facilitate the deal. The guy even offered everybody a beer, and we socialized for an hour, before continuing our journey to our hotel. Americans aren't usually that civilized. Later in the trip, the whole club visited a strip bar. It was staffed by wholesome university girls. For $5, you got a good rub, but that was all (no hands and no private booths). Kind of capitalism at its finest. I'm sure all of the girls were in church the next Sunday. That's America. Everything is available, but you've got to shop around.

And if you want a REAL adventure, check out the "Redneck Riviera". That's in the Panama City/Tallahassee area of the Florida Panhandle. Spring break there is absolutely wild.

We went last October for Halloween and stayed on international drive at the rosen Plaza hotel excellent place and right opposite the shopping mall, definitely use Uber instead of local taxis far cheaper and all drivers very friendly and gave good advice on attractions and places to eat, Universal Studio's better than Disney in my opinion its looking it's age

Lovely part of Florida especially out of season when there are no students on Spring break around. I stayed there for a week and it was so peaceful. OK a few of the restaurants were closed but the golf courses were emptyontario claret wrote:And if you want a REAL adventure, check out the "Redneck Riviera". To be honest ,I booked for April next year. Fly out on the 21st(miss the City game)Booked with Thomas Cook. Got a good deal with them.Staying in Kissimee near Old Town Got my tickets from Orlando Attraction Tickets better price than most, have 5 star trust pilot rating.I paid around £2600 for Disney all in (fastrack and memory maker) plus all Universal Parks.14 day tickets.
Been 20 years ago with my ex and eldest 2 its a great place to go to, it doesn't matter how old you are..Only disappointment is that Race-rock has gone from I-Drive.
Can't wait my youngest kids are really exited and don't stop talking about it.Any advice on decent places to eat?(Not to pricey) As I am sure things have changed a little in 20 years, since I was there last.

Anywhere you go in the States, look for a Jimmy Dean's for breakfast. Unbelievable amounts of food for a very reasonable price. Eat there in the morning, and you're good to go for the rest of the day.

Re: Disney world Florida
Olive Garden is good for Italian, Longhorn Steak House do really good food but they are always busy so you usually have to wait for a table and Applebees is decent at reasonable prices. If you want something expensive try STK at Disney Springs it's excellent . We bumped into Martin Lewis there in May so he must have blown all his money savings in there. Also Millers Ale House is good with loads of live sports on their tvs

All of the above explains why you meet so many morbidly obese Americans.

I had quite a few Amtrak “Jimmy Dean” breakfast burgers on my train trip. Id suggest visiting In n Out too. It’s a must. Id eat there everyday if I could and be fat, happy and single.

Re: Disney world Florida
I went 2 years ago and we stayed in a villa near Haines City..about a 20 minute drive to the parks. Very easy to get to. It was August and it was 30 at 9.30 in the evening and boy are you grateful for the aircon in the car and the villa. We had a Walmart just off the motorway near us and bought food to make sandwiches etc and we still ate out a lot in the evenings. Millers was a favourite and there are several dotted about the area.
We booked well in advance and got the park multipass for Disney and Universal. Planned the fastpasses 60 days before we set off.
It did require day by day planning. I researched the busy days for each park and did an itinerary that we more or less kept to. I would recommend the car and villa route as your holiday is your own. Not tied into anything and can explore further.
It is no normal holiday but it is fantastic.

The Trans-Siberian Express might be better, but not everybody speaks English in Russia, and from what I understand, the on-board service isn't that great. But,when I stop to think about it, not everybody in the States speaks English, either, especially the Good Ol' Boys, y'all.

It's much bigger, with better facilities, being situated in what used to be swampland. EuroDisney is restricted by high property prices, and the French hatred for all things American (except Jerry Lewis).
