Cricket and darts mainly.
Excellent i find, as you'd have to look extreamly hard not to find a weekend when one wasn't on, when the football isn't all year round.
Don't mind rugby and practically anything England are playing in I'll watch if nothing else is on.
Can't stand yank sports, unbearable viewing IMO

Macca, if you remember, can you nudge me when the darts is on. I seem to forget when it's on ITV4 and normally just remember the biggest events on Sky Sports. Not a BDO fan, due to the low quality and poor atmosphere.

Re: Hobbies other than football
Occasional I go clay pigeon shooting on a Friday afternoon up at Kelbrook.
Mostly go by myself on the way home from work and shoot about 80 to 100 cartridges and find it quite relaxing.
Its generally not that busy so amatures like me don`t feel to bad about missing the clay`s!
A hobby I have planned for the future is when I retire I would like to build a Ac Cobra replica or might buy a TVR and return it to its showroom condition or something similar along those lines.

I also don't watch BDO, it's nearly as bad as watching the lads play down the pub.
Its just not the same as the PDC, they're like 2 completely different sports.
The PDC delivery as a whole is excellent.
The crowd, the build up, the scorers, the players, the commentators, and the sky extras really do shine through for the big events IMO

The BDO is like non-league football.

Started cycling 7 weeks ago as my hips are knackard so that put a stop to my 5 a side career. Love it! Cycled 409 Miles in 7 weeks.
I’d recommend it to anyone who struggles with joint pain. I got a cheap Halfords road bike for £260 and intend to rag it about through winter and will upgrade to a decent road bike in spring. It’s amazing how far you can get and how fast you can go. I’ve lost some weight and I am the fittest I have been in a long time.

Re: Hobbies other than football
I've got a dodgy right knee. Probably due to whacking the football at over 100 miles an hour in the younger days. I started cycling a few weeks ago (bike was sat there for 4 years) and I have to admit, the pain isn't as bad. I suspect it's due to building up the thigh muscles which then relieves the weight on the knees as the muscles are taking more of it.Inchy wrote:Started cycling 7 weeks ago as my hips are knackard so that put a stop to my 5 a side career. The problem I'm finding is cars, so I've gone with cycling around parks. I went for a ride around Roundhay park a couple of weeks back, which I don't think is far from you. Much better than on the roads.

18 months ago I took up Scuba Diving qualified with the Padi route , open water, advanced open water, Rescue dive, Deep spec 40M , Nitrox
Done 50 dives , Capenwray, Coniston, Wastwater, Windowmere , USA Epcot aquarium with sharks, Loch Fyne and surrounding lochs, and a week on a liveaboard in the Red sea this August which was amazing, taking in numerous wrecks eg SS Thistlegorm ,Dunraven, Carnatic etc plus some fabulous reefs with more fish and turtles / rays than you would see at any sea life aquarium .
First year has been expensive with buying my own kit and all the courses, now its just dive trips.

Another for running if not as far. You can't beat it. And since I binned off timing myself, GPS watches, PBs and all that stuff I actually enjoy it. A nice drizzly afternoon in the South Yorkshire countryside and just head off out for a bit of solitude, and of course, exercise.Shappie wrote:Running

I live in east Leeds and only have to cycle for about 15 mins until I am in the country side. Very little traffic at all once past Scholes (the village, not Tony). I would never cycle around a town or city. Drivers can be maniacs. In the country side they seem to be a lot more respectful and in the 409 miles I’ve done I haven’t had any scrapes. The only time I have fallen over is when I forgot to unclip from the pedal. The car driver next to me was nice. He wound his window down and was laughing his cock off

Re: Hobbies other than football
I had a friend who visited Barcelona. He said it was a bit boring, the shops weren't up to much. It's a massive centre of civilization on the edge on an ocean and as example of what man does in an environment in which he finds himself, as a reciprocation with that cosmology, it is certainly mystic as a phenomenon.
Walking around anywhere with that notion, one sees things new each day. I see buildings I've never seen before on streets I walk down regularly. It's never boring to walk around and with the additional changing weather, if one can be in that mood.
Someone has posted a link to a film about a bloke going from Manchester to Leeds along the canal (see recent active thread.) Nobody told him to do it, he did it of his own volition.

Re: Hobbies other than football
Ah, didn't know you'd moved. I imagine there would be very little traffic cycling past Tony too, especially if he comes out with one of his one liners. The reason I got into cycling was for 2 reasons - to help the knee and time. Spend an hour cycling and you're talking like 3 times the number you'd get walking. But walking on an incline is no worse than running. So I'm mixing incline walking and cycling. You've not done bad only falling off once. I fell off trying to mount a blood curb!Inchy wrote:I live in east Leeds and only have to cycle for about 15 mins until I am in the country side. Do you get the train back from Tod after the games Inchy? If so I might have seen you in The Queen Hotel? I usually drive but broke my shoulder blade so had a few trips on the train recently.Inchy wrote:I live in east Leeds and only have to cycle for about 15 mins until I am in the country side. As for hobbies;
Films - I have a fairly high benchmark so often delve into foreign cinema as Hollywood churns our a lot of turd
Cooking
Running - Only usually 5K but I like to push myself
Golf - slacked off the past couple of years as I’ve got a young child and it’s hard to find the time alongside following Burnley
Music - again struggle to find the time but was a keen drummer and DJ
Walking the dog - always a good excuse to get out the house
Travel
Wining and dining
