Can't agree sadly. The smug and condescending way Bolton fans and staff acted throughout the whole Coyle saga stung and lasts as an impression of that club.

Good riddance. English football needs a sacrificial lamb to actually be liquidated to show that this can happen.

The thing that amazes me when I am responsible for big chunks of public sector money is how easy it is to toss it away. A pay rise here, a cost pressure there, suddenly you are £50m down. It is the same in the private sector.

Imagine the Clarets change owners and up the wage bill to £100m (very plausible) and offer players 4 year contracts without relegation clauses (also plausible). We then get relegated in year 1 (probably the most likely of the lot). The club could easily make a loss of, say, £150m over 3 years.

Before we know it, we could be in Bolton territory, or worse (without Eddie Davis and his write offs).

P.s. I am not being pessimistic, I don’t think this will happen, just saying it could.

Should have stayed at Burnden Park. Handy getting there by train and With Normid in the corner you do do your big shop at half time.

Enjoyable seeing them staring down the barrel after their arrogant chairman, board and fans antics/comments
during and after the Coyle fiasco, didn't they also do the same with Dougie Freedman at Palace ? Probably
rolled out the same old tried and tested cliche's ... However i wouldn't want them to go into administration as
that would take up a relegation spot and there is a club i'd much rather see fill it :-)

Bet the reading of the will is underwhelming for his family thanks to Bolton.

If they had stayed at Burnden Park, they would have had none of these problems.

I hope the current situation had nothing to do with his passing.
As with Jack Walker he was just a wealthy fan doing his best for the club he loved.
RIP Eddie.

Hope the Wankys pull through this - my dad was a bolton Fan until he took me to the turf in 1968 and got hooked.
Plus the fact my dads cousin was Nathaniel Lofthouse’s wife have got a soft spot - fcuk Owen Coyle.

Obviously, Bolton has grossly overspent.
They did 'Mortgage the Ranch,' further compounding their problems already stretched by building the new stadium which wiped out what the Co-op paid for Burnden Park.
Paying off useless overpaid and overrated 'Big Name' managers combined with signing players at inflated fees on excessive wages look to have done for them.
Finally, and as a result of their late benefactor withdrawing his more than generous support, this old famous club finds themselves on their uppers.
Let us hope, for the sake of the present players, manager and staff, that they survive the current predicaments.
Smacks more than a little of another club, situated nearer to us than Bolton does it not?
May our own club remain in the hands of people who are genuine supporters and who value the clubs importance to the town and supporters, wherever they may lie.

Make no mistake, Bolton will survive. It's just a question of how far they drop before the situation stabilizes.

The timing is scary, I know, but I’ve just seen that Eddy Davies their former chairman has passed away. It’s all negative for their fans at the moment.

"Bolton took out a loan with BluMarble in 2015 and according to the Bolton News there is a funding gap for the next 12 months of up to £13m."

Could be an interesting 12 months .

Bolton are struggling to pay their staff, including players, on time.
The manager and backroom staff still haven't received their bonuses from last season for keeping the club in the championship last season.

If it carries on I'd expect to see some players demand transfers in January.

I can't see Bolton hanging on to Phil Parkinson for long either,he has done an admirable job in the circumstances, but if they have another fire sale come January,he might decide enough's enough.

Maybe he's just hanging in waiting to be sacked and get a pay off. Or an IOU.

I wonder if the chairman failed to pay himself £500k for his services or £125k to his son?

Have to laugh when posters criticise our board for taking money out of the club when there are other chairman at clubs (Bolton) who don't have a pot to wazz in yet still pay themselves handsome dividends.

Burnley board haven’t paid any dividends in many years. Only money they’ve taken is interest on loans they made to keep the club going.

Last dividend paid was in 1980, the last full year with Lord as chairman.
